Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We did a tandem tour there back in 2007 and rode up above Breckenridge for a gold mine tour and we were well over 10,000'.
Sat we are planning on Breck to Lake Dillon
Sun we are planning on Copper Triangle- ie Copper Mtn to Leadville to Vail and back to Copper Mtn
Mon recovery
Tues off
Wed Mountain bike (no I don't know how to mtn bike, that should be interesting_
Thurs recovery ride then hot tub day
Fri epic ride if I feel up to it, like maybe Independence Pass from Aspen
Sat recovery ride and ship bike back home

Sun we catch Amtrak's California Zephyr on which we have booked a sleeper room. We will cross the Rockies and Sierra Nevadas by train and then fly home from Sacramento on Monday.

Then I will need a vacation from my vacation.

Okay, I know I have said this before, BUT you haven't really lived if you haven't tried sweet potato fries with creamy honey mustard dressing (aka mayo honey mustard). It is by far the best way to eat them.

BTW, you left out eggplant sticks. Not much better than that. With a sprinkling of Parmegiano Reggiano.

I hate it when I agree with the penman. But I do on this one.

Surely not on both statements. That would be way over the top. I don't think my defective heart could take it. As a doc you should be more careful.

As the temperature goes up, the relative humidity goes down. So if it is 95 when the temperature is 90, what was it at daybreak?

When the temp was 106 last year, my guess is the RH was around 40% or less. Still high for that temp, but nothing like 80%. 106/80 would be a heat index of 193 deg F. Essentially impossible. The dewpoint would be 99 deg F.
... and that really would be a fatal ride.

A few years back I remember getting caught along a stretch and it peaked around 112F. 10mph soaked from the whole water bottle just felt like I was being steamed with a blow-dryer in my face.

This is called "intuitive" because it makes sense after someone tells you.

You guys want love? Before we moved up to the north end of town, when AG needed to do a long ride up north I drove her up with a car full of stuff so I could be on hand if something happened while she was riding. Did my run and a Shower-Pill wipedown before sitting and reading GoT while she finishe.

Now that we live here I just keep an eye on the phone while she's out because she starts from home instead of a half-hour car ride away.

None of this stuff excited her. However, I was buying a jersey a couple weeks ago and she walked up and said, "They better have that in my size, too." The sales lady laughed because I had already had her set aside a couple for my wife to try on.

Sometimes I break out my olde schoole Camelbak. Nothin but hydration, not even a little tool pocket or key chain thingy.
