Mundane? Perhaps. Easy carbon rim brake fix.
I know this is well known, but it worked so well for me, I just wanted to share it again.
I'm running carbon tubulars with Zero Gravity calipers and Black Prince pads. They worked great together at first, quiet and sure stopping, but lately there has been a lot of squeal in the front and very poor modulation. They have been very grabby. I tried cleaning the rims to no avail. But a smidgen of toe-in on the front pads has completely solved the problem. Now the brakes are quiet even at full power and the modulation is great. Smooth without any grab. Of course full power isn't as high as it was since the pads squeeze the rim progressively less from front to back, but that is no problem for me.

I always toe in brake pads when I set them up whether on aluminum or carbon rims. This isn't common practice any more? I think most decent calipers come with the washer to make it easy to set up toe in.

As the pads grab they will actually torque the caliper arms forward so the pad ends up flush with the rim.
Toe in all rim brakes...
