I think this is a well-priced Tommasini for a taller person. Ignoring what looks like the bubble-gum pink color (bad color balance on the camera?), and that I think it's bigger than a 59 cm, I'm not sure about the lugs. I know from 1980 on the lugs have the classic 'T' cutout, so this would be a 1979 or earlier, but this lug pattern on the headtube doesn't look like what I'd expect. The downtube sticker also looks like a modern, raised-edge version, but maybe not. The sticker pattern does seem consistent with a late '70s and very early 1980s Tommasinis. Lots of good Campy pieces on it. Definitely worth checking out.

Dawes Galaxy, $30, seller says someone swerved and hit his back tire but if those broken spokes and wheel and tire/tube are the only damage, this might be a good deal. Sounds like only this rear wheel got trashed, one would have to talk to the seller.

These are sometimes very good bikes, not sure about this make.

Deals show up down here periodically. If only I was in a big market like Portland.

But, I find the benefit of a small market is that it is easier to pace myself, and just wait for that perfect deal to pop up. I already have too many projects in the basement.

Their geometry was within industry norms, with only the 1987+ 63cm and 66cm road/crit frames getting a 74.75° HT angle (which I have and really like). I wouldn't want to find a replacement AL fork, that's for sure!

All that to say, their steel forks were produced by Tange (well, my '87 Black Lightning certainly was) and were of a semi-sloping crown variety. Which, I suppose it to say, any in-decent-shape 1" threaded steel fork with a matching steerer length and matching axle-to-crown length (I'd check axle-to-brake-mount distance, too) should suffice. What happened to the original?
Crashed while touring, unfortunately. Rest of the bike's ok, but the front rack snagged something on my way down, forcing one tine out while tacoing the wheel.

You're right about the steel Tange. Some were chromoly, others were mangalloy, I think. Originally built for 27" wheels, I converted mine to 700c with longer reach brakes.

There are some forks out there that are close, but the hard part is finding a 27" 1" threaded that has both double eyelets at the dropouts and midfork eyelets as well.

Very nice, head badge says they are made in Liverpool to boot. Yes, quite big for many of us.

He says 62, but that head tube is screaming 65 to me. Even 62 is out of the range I will allow myself now. I don't want to be "that guy", who snaps it up and parts it out for profit. If it was a 60, like I said, I'd already be driving to that side of town with cash in my pocket. Weird that he seems to be knowledgeable on vintage bikes, yet doesn't seem to realize the frame might be worth twice his asking price to the right person.,,,,BD

This has been on and off CL for a VERY long time. It's my size and I would have checked it out if it was a bit closer. Perhaps it's still red and the photo is washed out or the paint is REALLY faded so it's now pink. That, the dent, some rusty looking areas on the top tube and a mixed parts group are making a 3 hour round trip drive less likely.

To me the oddest part about this bike was the head tub lugs, which I hadn't seen before on a Tommasini. Last night I found this picture: Same lugs, and maybe the same pink color. The CL bike does have an odd mix of parts, but still has some good bits. The photos are too poor to really tell what's happening with the 'ding,' and what the rust situation is. Since it's been sitting on CL for a while, might be worth a bid. I just picked up a Tommasini with some issues that sat on the local CL till the ad expired. I offered much less than it was listed for, and when that was rejected waited a month and then came back with the same offer. Now I'm doing some cleaning and refurbishing.

It's also very curious, as the Harry Quinn has the exact same gold panels, and double head/seat tube badges, as my Geoffrey Butler. Not the same badges, but the gold paint, and two badges of it's brand. That's a British thing I guess?,,,,BD

Absolutely. That one's a bit far away, though, and besides, I just bought a Univega hybrid frame from a forum member and built that up with Tektro Canti brakes and Challenge 700x38 tires, so that is meeting my gravel grinding needs for now.

You've just got to be fast and ready to travel. Someone posted a Schwinn Tempo for $60 one night a few weeks ago. By the next morning he had bumped the price to $90 and offered an odd explanation of why he was selling it so cheap (two flat tires). By lunch time it was gone. There's a suspiciously similar Tempo on there now for $325.

Really great bikes are less common and over priced when they do show up, and even the mid-level bikes are hardly ever bargains but at least they're available. I got my Pinarello on Portland CL for what I think was a decent price, but it was slow moving because the seller was in The Dalles. There's a guy in Tigard selling a number of decent quality bikes today (a PX10, a Spec Allez, a Cannondale, a Raleigh Gran Sport, a Bridgestone and a Strawberry). None of them are so amazing you'd rush out to buy them, and none of them are bargain priced, but at least they're available. A lot of markets wouldn't have the selection of vintage bikes in the entire area that are available from this one seller right now.

Try some light cut rubbing compound followed by a glaze and paste wax. I bet you could get most of that fluorescent glow back, if you try
