I was thinking about riding the century on the Maine Lighthouse ride in September.

Yeah, I live in Portland, and ride those roads on a regular basis. It is actually a very nice ride, and most of the roads are very good. The eastern trail is like a hard packed crushed rock type surface, but it rideable on a road bike.

I did the century last year, it was my first century. It was a great ride - nice course the gravel section is rideable on a road bike. Nice views along the way.

Looks like a high of 78 low of 65, 10 kts of wind out of the South. Perfect conditions for the ride.

It was a nice day for the ride. Tough day for us though. I had a flat and had to stop and fix that, and my riding partner wasn't feeling well, so we called it a day at Pit Stop 4 in Old Orchard Beach.
Saw another rider almost crash -- in Biddeford, I think-- I stopped to help, and it turns out her handlebars were loose. All 4 Allen screws on the stem were not tight and the bars moved around while she was going down a hill. I tightened them up and we went on our way. The bike was a rental.
How did everyone else do?

Sorry to hear about that. The flat you can live with but hope your friend is feeling better for next year.
Definitely the most scenic and fun metric I've done. The weather was absolutely perfect! The organization was top notch. Great size group for a ride like this, very well organized, intersections were well managed. I'm putting it on the calendar for next year.
I did see two flats along the dirt trail, which was much looser than we were led to believe.
