Missed my Granny...
I had last year's 2016 Giant Trance 2 which had a 2 X 24/38 chain rings and 11/36 cogs. Nice low .70 gear and I used it quite a bit.
Traded that for the newer 2017 Trance 2 which came with a 1 x 32 chain ring with 11/42 cogs. That low gear was now .80 and a little high for my liking.
I switched the rear cogs for a Sun Race 11/46 and switched the front chain ring for a 30T and my low gear ratio is now .68 and really great for these old legs. Each of these changes were at the absolute limit in each case. 46T is max for the rear and 30T is min for the front.
The change over was pretty easy and each item barely fit but it does and have had no problems.
Nice to have my granny back.
Here's a brief look at the various gear combos starting with the 2017 Trance stock 32T and 11/42 combination.
Then the 30T 11/42.
The older 24/38 11/36 combo
The 32 11/46 and finally the current 30 11/46 with the .68 gearing.

I just ordered a 30 chainring to replace my 32 on a Sram 1x11 with 11-42 cassette. The chainring was only $60 compared to nearly $300 for a 11-46 cassette. Cant wait to try it out this weekend.

I got off cheap. $80 for the cassette and $35 for the chain ring. Just checked the cassette and it says it's good with Sram and Shimano - just sayin'. Also read some reviews of guys using the cassette with Sram.
The smaller chain ring took a lot of maneuvering to get on over the spider but I got it done.
Looks like you'll go from .80 to .75 - does that look right?
