Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sugar in any significant concentration makes me sick...literally. Just the thought of eating something sickly sweet grosses me out. Comes from living with an insulin dependent diabetic for years 30 some years back and I like it that way.

Honestly, the only time such a thing would be justified on my wrist would be on a job interview, and I'm hoping not to need that.
I wear my watch every day.

I rode the MTB yesterday. Still very sick, lung wise. Can't believe this thing is still hampering me 3 weeks in.

Also, ate dirt yesterday. Like 3 minutes into the trail, I caught a tree leaning onto the trail with the right bar. Totally caught me off guard, and threw me like a rag doll. Smashed my pinkie, and turned the wheel 90 degrees, which stopped rolling, which compressed the hell out of the front suspension, which then rebounded really strong throwing me off the bike (non drive side, thank god). I landed like 15' away from the bike.

Strangely, managed to get road rash on my left elbow... underneath pads (really good expensive ones). Didn't know that was possible, but I'm sure it would have been a lot worse if I wasn't wearing them.

Still, it really was a minor thing, and I ended up doing the full ride, just a little slower due to having to stop and hack up a lung full of yellow goo every 20 minutes. There were several posts on the FB group today showing of broken shoulders, wrists, etc from activities on the same trail this morning. I guess some day my it'll be my turn, but not this weekend.

Also, I'm passing all of @Jadesfire's pie advice to my wife. Wife says "what kind of pie do you want?" Me (pointing to post): "That... make that... just like that."

Well, that's flattering . I forgot to mention I also dust (or grate, should you happen to have it whole) some nutmeg over the dry ingredients for the crust before mixing.

I wouldn't be half the health-conscious nuisance I am if this forum wasn't about a healthy lifestyle. It just doesn't make sense to go through all the effort and hours spent training and staying in shape on the bicycle just to ignore or minimize the importance of the dietary portion.
I had a salad with lunch today.

Great shot

You're not going to win many mountain bike converts with stories like that, you know.

No snow on the ground at the start of my race, but it was starting to accumulate by the end.
