Gates Carbon Drine Rings & Belt CDC. $125.00

Rings are in great shape 69T, belt has less than 500 miles on 250T plenty of usage left, this set of rings have always tracked very straight.

Okay I may want to educate myself a little bit. I know there may be a recent iteration of these. Also I may be interested in the Viper bars you had. perhaps package deal. My email is mike dot then my last name, which is the part after the "m" in my user id, "at" the google email.
Let me know if that works.

Do you know if this would fit a 2012 Cannondale Road Tandem 2?

You and others may find this review helpful. I fully agree with the points mentioned in it:

Review: Gates Carbon Belt Drive Centertrack (Tandem) - CyclingAbout CyclingAbout

One additional point regarding CDC vs CDX is that the latter (CenterTrack) does not need as high a belt tension or perfect front/rear alignment to work well.

Perhaps this thread would be more helpful:

https://www.bikeforums.net/tandem-cyc...e-success.html

Note that the spec for the standard gates setup is to have a 724mm boom tube length, 69 tooth gates rings and a 2000mm/250t belt. The 720mm mentioned in the thread above would be a minimum length for the standard setup. Note, some Cannondale and Trek tandems are longer at 736mm, which requires a smaller 66t timing ring.

Shorter boom tubes (ie: Santana 704mm) require a larger 74t timing ring in order to fit the usual 2000mm belt.

Mark Johnson has a fairly comprehensive list of Gates parts and specifications on his Precision Tandems catalog page.

For reference, the Gates tandem product web page.

I had not heard about the issue of noise on dirt roads. Have you experienced this? Was considering (again, as I almost bought bad1's CDC) one of these on a 650b tandem that gets a lot of gravel use.

Grit erodes the rings. CDC rings no longer track straight after they get worn. I haven't had a problem with the CDX rings. I didn't notice noise with the CDC, just that the belt walked off after they got worn. It is nice not to have to fool with chain wear and captain's saddle height.

Two things: 1) we have a CDX (CenterTrack) setup not CDC, and 2) we don't do much dirt riding on our road tandem. With our "normal" road riding usage we have not had any issues.

For a better response, PM of the very experienced gravel tandemers... Turbotandem.
