Picked up a pretty sweet USA made yellow 91 trek 830 today for $50. Needs a good going through and clean up, but it is straight and seems fully functional. Pictures in the future.

Picked up this Performance Synapse frame. I've had some orphaned parts waiting for a project. 9 speed XT drive train, Avid brakes and a bunch of parts from a damaged Specialized frame. Of course, it's too small for me.

Hi Everyone, I'm new to this board and the reason I'm here is the bike below of course. I'm an all around bike lover but I've never had a true classic/vintage bike.. until now; to be fair I still don't have it as I feel I'm just the "guardian" of this bike. It was donated to me from a dear friend who used to ride it in the past, but while he is emotionally attached to the bike as it was a gift from his father, the bike was collecting dust and not in very good riding conditions, so he wanted me to make good use of the bike knowing it was in good hands and close to him.
So back to the bike: it's an old Atala in Columbus steel, fully equipped with Campagnolo Super Record. The rear derailleur says pat.82, and since I know a pat.84 exists I would guess it's an 82/83 bike, or a later bike with an earlier derailleur, maybe you can help!!
As I said the bike was in the need for some love, what I did was a very deep cleaning, polishing and relubing; I then gave it some new bar tape and a new saddle, I've chosen a Cinelli Unicanitor to somehow match the Cinelli handlebar. I'll probably switch the pedals for something more period correct. The bike is a blast to ride, very agile, it "feels fast" and I'm very happy to have it around, it will be with me until I'm able to ride it and then it will be donated to a new owner

Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet
Just finished this '73 Super Sport. It was in rough shape when I got it. Went to a 5 speed drive train. Repainted because the old paint was atrocious. Really wish I had taken before pictures. She rides real nice now. Looking around for a small front rack. Appreciate any suggestions. Thinking about the VO Constructeur.

[QUOTE=junkfoodjunkie;13688948]Just built this up for my wife last night. We went for a ride today and she really likes it. It is a great fit for her.
Donor bike for the Mirage 9 speed parts. Planet X wheels I had on hand, and a great deal on a complete Peloton for the frame.
Made for a super cheap bike that turned out really nice.
Very nice

My N+1: Softride Norwester
Picked up this box-stock Softride Norwester over the weekend.
I always thought these were cool bikes, and this one was too good a deal to pass up.
It'll need a chain and cables (right shift pod was fouled) and i'll have to do something about that marshmellow it's got for a saddle.
Probably fit it out for endurance riding; I do an annual fundraiser that involves 500-700 miles in a week over varying terrain. I'm not going to be fast, so i'll be comfortable back with the 'B' group.

@Doppiadi Beautiful Atala you have been entrusted with by your friend. A good thorough cleaning and servicing should do it for this truly nice piece of Italian art. The patent numbers can help somewhat in dating a bike, but you need to post its serial number, along with pics of the bike showing the drops, lugs, and all sides in detail as much as possible. The real experts here can help you with its fabrication date with these items. Since you are in Italy you are one up on most of us for gathering up the history of various marques. Hopefully you are enjoying the Giro d'Italia right now.

Mid-'70s Hillman in Reynolds 531 - a small but respected Melbourne (Aust) family-run bike business that closed its doors less than a year ago.
Picked up the frame in pink metallic from New South Wales, identified as made by the then doyen of Oz frame builders, George McDonald, and now with splendid restoration by Gordon Hill (of the Hillman family), paint by Kevin Wigham (of Paconi frames) and freehand lettering/pinstriping by 80 y.o. Kenn Dickie, whose work has shown up elsewhere on these forums on a Malvern Star track bike if I remember rightly.
At present running a mix of new and old 70s-80s Sugino and Suntour running gear & brakes, Campy/Rigida wheels, Cinelli, Brooks, bits having come from all over the globe. So it's not yet pure to era, but I'm getting there. And rolls so smooth: every path I take on it is gently downhill all the way.

Thanks, I'll post more details in the future in a dedicated thread. Right now I can't even get to the bike and snap some photos as I am recovering from a stupid crash (with not so stupid consequences unfortunately..) I had last week on my everyday bike. I am enjoying the Giro on TV, I was planning to go and see the penultimate tappa pedaling on some of the last tough mountains but I'm not going to pedal anytime soon!

Thanks. --- not very extensive. The Bike was in pretty good condition when i got it. --- just put new bars/tape/saddle/tires/chain & cables on it. Disassembled, polished all the chrome. Put it back together oh and bought some new Columbus decals, since the old ones were in bad condition.

Yup. Pee-bucket are purging their system of anyone who isn't spending money there. Makes sense, from a capitalist perspective, but it is damned poor customer service.
So I went with Imgur, but I hear Flickr is good as well. The thing is (and I've said this before elsewhere), if Imgur were to start charging a reasonable fee for web-sharing our images, I would certainly consider it, as long as they asked nicely.
But when there is a free alternative that works just as well, paying just seems dumb.

I was amazed at how tight, light and perfectly this functioned on our maiden 15 mile ride. We saw many modern roadies, but I couldn't have been any happier than riding this bike. Fits me like it was meant to be.
BTW, it was a Chicago CL buy, $250. Seemed fair enough. Not a great deal, but sure makes me happy.

Legnano Roma and Raleigh Super Course
My two vintage bikes, '64 Legnano Roma, that I've had since new, and '73 Raleigh Super Course built from a bare frame found in a scrap pile. I love them both.

Did you buy it from a shop or mail order? Here in Northern California the only folks I knew in the mid-sixties with bikes of that quality bought them mail order. ("Cyclopedia" I think)

NoI was a junior class racer and a local shop, Bicycle Center (Bakersfield, CA) was a club sponsor. I really wanted a Paramount, or Bianchi, but the Legnano was available, so my parents got it for me. Lucky kid. I think it was $175 new with my old Schwinn Continental in trade. I see lots of old Paramounts around and Bianchis too, but hardly any Legnanos. Here's a picture from 1964, and one now. I have lost over 30 lbs since the 2nd picture. Same bike though.
