I haven't commuted for a year......been waiting for an operation to remove a titanium band that was put in after I broke my hip socket....and now bothers the sciatic nerve.
I can't wait to be back on the bike for my early morning 18km commute, and posting here from time to time!!

I'll be riding again tomorrow. Not especially looking forward to it, I'm feeling beat the last few days and it's hot here.

Drove to work four days in June. Drove one day so far in July, and hoping to keep it to that for the rest of the month. Short commute but hills at both ends. Longer climb on the way home with last 1/8 mile at 9%.

It was a very nice commute this morning. Lately I have been seeing a man walking his german shepard in the am. The dog is not on a leash, but he does not even seem to notice me. Which is good for me as I am not a fan of big dogs that I do not know. The man does say hi and smile as I also do, so that part is pleasant. When I see them I head for the middle of the road to give the dog room. There was also a full moon this am.

Unexpectedly cool (13C/55F) this morning given how nice the weekend was. I was planning on doing a slightly longer ride this morning but it means that I have to travel SW for a bit to get to the other road which meant that I was going into a headwind but riding into a headwind was not the problem, the problem was that the headwind was pushing distant rain towards me so I turned E and took the regular route and made it in to work before any rain came down.
The radio's forecast is for rain today but I think it will be just this morning as the weather websites are forecasting sun this afternoon.
Have a great day!

My wife had a stainless steel brace for a couple of years and afterwards, she got to keep it, can you keep yours?

Too cloudy this morning to see the moon, and I was too bleary-eyed to notice anyway. Warm 72F and humid

Hot and steamy commute this morning. Strange, because the NWS was reporting 74 degrees and 85% relative humidity. Friday's ride was cool at 76 degrees and 97%. Did it feel that much hotter because I was taking it easy this morning?

57F, overcast. Only wildlife, 1 roadkill duck in the bike lane.
Oh yes parked at the trailhead all last week was a beverly hillbillies style suv jammed completely full on the inside except some of the driver's seat, and with the roof loaded like a beetle in an Ikea commercial. Over time, the entire load of the car became a huge pile of stuff next to the car (but larger than it, as it decompressed a bit). This morning, all that was left was a way overstuffed serious garden wagon. I realized the entire load of stuff has been hauled up the trail to build a homestead in the woods. There are a lot of such settlements already and while I have seen caches staged and brought up gradually, this is by far the largest, and I guess the settler can leave his car in the parking lot too.

I skipped this morning. Still achy-kneed from my MTB adventure and just didn't relish the thought of taking the whole 1:15 to drag the 3yo to daycare and then on to work.

As much as I have tried to make my MTB fit the same as my road-style touring bike (Kona Sutra) and my road bike (Look), it doesn't so the occasional long ride on the MTB can leave me feeling the same.

Was nice and cool this morning at around 70F. I had a great ride in from home. I decided to do the full ride today since Tue - Fri have chance of showers (some more than others). So could mostly park and ride on the really bad days and maybe try to squeeze one more ride from home. Also, this was the first time riding the Campagnolo Zonda wheelset that I received last week. They seem nice and stiff so far. I'm trying them out since I've read good reviews on them. Am just a bit skeptical about the low spoke count. But I'm willing to be proven wrong on the longevity...

Today my supervisor (who is normally a much more active bike mechanic than I am) came into my cube and asked me to take a look at his front wheel. He says it's pinging and he can't figure out what's going on. He lubed the spoke nipples (no jokes please) and it was truthy as you like. I picked the bike up and spun the wheel... scrape scrape scrape go the bearings. XTR titanium hub, raw finish, not sure what generation. His late dad built the wheelset for him. I hope he can find replacement parts.

Hot and muggy already! This afternoon will be brutal but I'm kinda used to it. What sucks is when I'm against the wind and then I'm not.. makes me hotter! Wore a pair of padded bike shorts today. Ehh a little better but really need to get a new saddle. Time to order a few pair!

Don't know of this is his hub model or not. But it looks more expensive than my kit at ~$70.

91F for the ride home yesterday. It isn't so bad once I get the 15+ mph breeze going. And it gets better when I'm going through a shady stretch or if a cloud blocks the sun for a bit.
A decent 15 miles this morning. I tried wearing a compression Under Armour shirt today. While it is plenty aerodynamic, I'm not sure it is as breathable as I would like.

My wife has used the expression, "horses sweat, men perspire, women glow, right now, I'm glowing like a horse", well, at the end of my ride in to work today, I was glowing like Niagara Falls but that's me.
I bought a new helmet, an Urge Supatrail, and other purchasers have commented that it is quite cool. Generally, that has been the case with me but today, I was too much for the helmet. In previous years, I've worn a Buff in Sahariane style under my helmet to catch head sweat and stop it from going into my eyes (it burns! it burns!) but I haven't done so yet this year but will have to start soon.
Warm (15C/59F), sunny and humid, especially through the morning mist for about 1/2 the ride this morning. Should be a warm afternoon ride too. Tomorrow, they're calling for afternoon rain and I need to drive in on Thursday so I'm thinking that I'll ride in the morning, take a ride home leaving the bike at work, drive in Thursday morning, pass the car to my wife in the afternoon and ride home because Thursday afternoon is looking good.
Have a great day people!

It was a nice park and ride in this morning. The heat and humidity are back, though. Forecast mentioned around 30% chance of rain for the ride back to the car. Will see. If I get wet, then no big deal. My brake shoes are getting a bit worn down. So just ordered another pair of Kool-Stop salmon pads for both front and rear Campy 2000 brakes.

Heh. 70F and low humidity yesterday was a gift for my area at this time of year. Its usually hotter like today (77F) with more humidity. 59F has come and gone. But it did stay a little longer than usual earlier this spring. Summer must be nice up by you...

We do get the occasional day of 30C/86F+ but not very often. We got a new furnace/AC for our home about 5 years ago, the AC broke after the second year and we haven't really felt the need to get it repaired, just a few days a summer are difficult but other than that, we're ok without it (but I should get on it this year, it's been moved up on the honey-do list).
