Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'd run it as you've got it, but to be honest, the only part of that bike that's not great spec is the tires. Go ahead and wear them out, but replace them with something with a higher thread count when you do, possibly tubeless. If you decide to go tubeless make sure to get the tubeless strips that Bontrager wheels need--you shouldn't just tape them and install tires.
I'm not going tubeless, don't see all the hype in it. I do plan on replacing the tires when I get it with something that has some more tread. Also probably next year I will replace the wheels themselves. Other than that everything else is good to go

What's your goal with the tread change? What kind of tires are you putting on the bike?

I decided on the Continental Grand Prix 4000 S-2, having them install them on the bike when it comes in

I replaced the tires right away before I even picked it up. Put on Continental 4000 S2's. Feels good so far, don't know how different they are from stock since I didn't ride on the stock ones

That is a very smart looking bike.

If I were to ever buy a road bike, as I am concerned about my capacity to break equipment, an ALR Emonda would be at the top of my list.

Really? Are you saying full bike to full bike...or frameset to frameset? Can't believe the Trek AL Emonda frameset is 450g lighter than the Allez Elite frameset.

Heh, it looks good, it looks like how a bike is meant to look.

I love the proportions of the frame.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up, lol. It’s fun. I wasn’t really pushing it tonight and I averaged 17 mph for 20 miles. Fastest bike I’ve ever had

I like the way your shop lined up the decals on the rims and tires
What's with the MTB pedals though?

Very nice looking bike. Trek and Cannondale have been doing aluminum for many years and know what they're doing. Aluminum has come a long way too and the ride quality is much better now. I will soon be in the market for a new bike and I've begun test riding bikes. I really like the Trek Emonda's and Domane's. Enjoy the bike. A great new bike always inspires.

Thank you, as it sits it is 20 lbs. Very light, you would never know it was aluminum.
