Nice surprise when I bought my new pedals👍
So I went to my local Trek store today looking for a set of 105 pedals for my Edmonda but they didn’t have any. So they gave me a set of Ultegra pedals at the 105 price😁. Excited to see how they work tomorrow

Judging by how Shimano rolls, they'll work just like 105, except they'll weigh less and look better, right?

Actually, come to think of it, the difference between Ultegra and DA is mostly just weight and cosmetics, but when it comes to the difference between 105 and Ultegra, there are lots of little details that add up to increased durability too.

I’m guessing the bearings are better also

From what I've seen over the years of Shimano's stuff, it's quite likely they're better than 105 but the same as DA.
The only difference of this sort between DA and Ultegra that springs to mind is the upper pulley bearing, which is a bushing on Ultegra, but a fancy cartridge bearing on DA incorporating lateral float.

I think I just may have found you the perfect avatar: Image 14

I'm using XTR trail pedals. They have different axles compared to XT. So to whatever extent XTR isomorphously maps into Dura Ace, and XT into Ultegra, there may be significant differences.
Either way, it was a very nice upgrade and a good gesture.

I thought it was the other way around; Ultegra is lighter and prettier than 105, but DA gets the fancy bits like the bearings instead of bushings in the RD and much better bearings in the pedals.

But given that Ulegra is pitched as pretty much the best you can hope for while keeping one eye on the price, any durability improvements in DA are going to be pretty minimal. Ultegra is pretty superb stuff.
