L’Erocia California 2019
We did the medium (something a little over 60 miles) in 2016 on our ‘76 Jack Taylor. It was a fairly hard ride for us in terms of steep technical climbing, especially Kiler Canyon. Kiler Canyon was pretty close to single track for us, narrow and very rutted, pretty steep. We did not have to walk, but were just lucky no one stopped suddenly in front of us, forcing a dismount. We are using toe clips and cleats. The start and routes are new this year, but are in the same area. We are thinking of the 75 mile route which does not include Kiler Canyon.

If anone knows these roads, particularly the dirt sections relative to Kiler Canyon, we’d be interested in the relative difficulty.
Although difficult for us, we highly recommend the ride to others with classic tandems. We do have newer tandems and my wife prefers the newer longer stocker areas, but it is fun to get back on the tandem we started with once and a while.
