Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That part of California is really a photographer's paradise. Great riding too, it's just so remote that few people are willing to drive that far. I'm really tempted to just relocate to an area like that, so I have no excuse for not riding in that kind of scenery more often.

I can think of a dozen great rides within an hour's drive of where I live now, but the logistics of waiting for a day off, with good weather, packing everything up, getting up early, eating, getting gas in the car, etc. has been too much for me to deal with more than a couple times a year. It would be much easier to have this kind of place within riding distance, even if it means longer commute times to work. Riding > Work.

a section of California’s Route 66 that was replaced with interstate 40 which was built to the north.

High Falls, NY.

A new neighbor bought a property with no house or driveway. He just had the driveway put in and gave it a punny name.
