November already? Had to turn on the furnace this morning for the first time since April! Chime in here with your random thoughts.

I was glad I parked my truck in the garage last night, the car parked outside had snow on it when I left this morning! None on the ground, but still.

Hopped on a flight this morning in Atlanta at 8 am... exit row, nobody next to me. It's going to be a good weekend.

I rode the OCW metric on Saturday. After the ride they had pizza and both pumpkin and apple pie. I chose apple.

This is East Parking at the San Bernardino International Airport. The airport that planes land at, usually for the last time. Unical MRO has a complex out there, and they are a teardown facility, so the apron is covered with planes in various stages of disassembly.
Anyway, the only use the Terminal gets (just to the right of East Parking) is when somebody comes out and films part of a movie or TV show in it. So it's pretty nice pavement, and almost always empty.
As of today, I've ridden the 0.5 mile segment around East Parking... 457 times. That doesn't include other laps (like a figure-8 around East and West Parking together.)
I did 80 laps around East Parking in one stint a few years ago. Just because. Still beats a trainer.

I agree it beats a trainer, but that’s not saying much!
I remember back in 1972 participating in a charity ride at Riverside International Raceway. Riding around the track was kinda cool the first couple of laps, then no so much. I don’t remember how many laps we did.

There's a ride of laps of the Indianapolis Speedway. First couple laps would be fun I guess....then not.

Agreed that not having to deal with traffic is nice. And I'm all for whatever folks enjoy on their bikes is great.

New bike day isn't the best day, new drivetrain day is the best day! Because then the fit is more dialed in, you're used to the bike, it just works so much better (especially after retiring a cassette with 11,000 miles on it.)
Add to that brand new Vittoria Terreno Zero tires and new brake rotors, and it was a fabulous morning.
Those Terrenos are something else-- sold as 700x35, have 700x35 molded on the sidewall, say 700x37 on the graphics, and mount to a full 40mm wide on 19 internal wheels. It just fits between the chainstays.

In just nine days, we have a 30% chance of rain. We got a light misting on September 27th, and it's been bone dry since. This upcoming week will be the first of the season with highs below 80º.
I am wholly ambivalent. I'm a bit ahead of my annual mileage goal, so I can afford to sit out a few rain days. But at the same time, boring.

We got a little here in Lake Forest. Maybe 0.1 - 0.2 inches, not enough to warrant turning the sprinklers off. Also got a random shower this afternoon. I know some other areas got more.

Well, Seems like I came down with something, I'm sick as a dog. Didn't stop me from trying out my new Kamado Joe BBQ yesterday - smoked up about 16 lb of pulled pork and it was daaaaaaaaamn good. I might be a convert to these "egg" style grills. What am I talking about, I already bought the damn thing, of course I'm a convert. But it worked out as well as I could have imagined.

I shall make an exception and select both on Thursday.
Suppose to the do the SDBC club ride pre Turkey feast but we'll see with the storm coming in. Route goes up the coast from La Jolla to La Costa and heads to Escondido and down thru poway, mirimar on the return leg. Only part I'm really worried about is downhilling Torrey pines in a group in the wet. Solo i can break 40mph on that hill pretty easy.

After over a month of being inactive due to a pinched nerve in my back that also included horrible pain in my right leg, I did a 54 mile easy ride today. Felt great to be on my bike again. And the weather here was gorgeous today.

I'm struggling tonight.....found out my friend was the victim of the hit in run in Escondido the other day, Car was out of control in blind corner and was on wrong side of the road. He was on going to the MTB trail when struck and killed upon impact. The driver ditched the car 1/2 mile away and ran.

I've done many epic and weekly rides w/ my good friend Kevin, he also helped me get in shape and find my mojo after a car crashed into me in 2014. Lots and lots of painful extra credit miles with this dude. He was genetically skilled cyclist both on the road and on the MTB.
I don't have many pics of my riding friends but I have this one to remember him by, he was on my 6man team in the LA Rapha Gentlemans race long before gravel riding on road bikes was a trend.
