If I stand up and hammer on the bike, I can occasionally hear some rubbing, but that seems to be going away as the brake pads are starting to wear in a bit...and my understanding is that that's not too uncommon since the frame and wheels flex when standing and the pad tolerances are tight.
Regarding your friend, there are a few variables. It could be down to how the caliper is torqued down or how much torque is applied on the thru axle. The brake rotor could have also been warped from heat or the wheel might not be true, though run out might not be that significant that close to the hub. If he's placing the bike inside the car and laying it flat in an SUV, I suppose he could have also tweaked the fork somehow or bumped the caliper out of alignment.

I have the same wheelset, and yes get occasional rub when under heavy load. Haven’t seen the issue with rotor centering though, and I’ve taken off the front wheel several times.

Really Beautiful. I have an Eddy Merckx too - just got it and will follow suit in doing some of the same upgrades. Love the modern retro look!

Banxwondar,
That Felt is sitting there grumbling at the fact that it is inert. It looks like it wants to go fast. Go, now, ride!

My Tarmac
My Tarmac SL5. Astana Team Colors, pretty rare paint but beautiful. Built from a bare frame purchase, it has full DA9100 mechanical with upgrades. I put it on a Mavic R-Sys Exalith wheelset with custom ceramic bearings. Incredibly smooth and light. It comes in at a real 15.05 lbs. as you see it.

I wanted to post picture of my new allroad bike, but I cannot, so only text.
The first two posts I made in the last 7 years were with embedded picture attachments. And recently I got a new bike (first few months, rode 80% gravel and got bored and now riding 80% road) and wanted to post a pic but I cannot post pictures now.
It seems mods have introduced some weird rule. They must be roadies or ex-roadies, lol. No offense mods, just kidding.
At the rate I was posting before, it would take another 20 or 25 years to post picture of my new bike.
So posting little bit more often and 4 more to go. If I fall back to old frequency, it will still take another 10+ years to post picture of my new bike!
Anyway, picture or no picture, text or no text, important thing is to keep riding. Did 90km, 170km, 120km and 65km last week (off from work).

Made some small changes to the BMC over the last couple months (stem, bags). Now to ignore my better judgement and get a wheelset...

Had a ribble R872 with Ultegra groupset as my main bike for last 5 years. Have upgraded it to a Giant Propel with Di2 because I got lazy servicing the gears!
