Dumb question:
I want to redo my cables and housing this winter. I somehow have two sets of Shimano shifter housing. Can I use the shifter outer housing for my brake cables? I believe the brake cables are thicker than shifters but have no clue if it will work with shifter outer housing.
Anyone know?

I do have a hi-viz rain jacket that I almost never wear as i get way too hot in it, but;
a) being a #cheapskate and it being on sale made it a must buy,
b) never having been a carded roadie made the Fredly purchase easier.
Funny thing though, when I was commuting to my previous place of work, 80+% of the commute was on non-vehicular trail. Of course, purple line construction @#*+;/(! that now

In my lowracer recumbent days, the brake runs were very long and tortuous and required higher cable pull forces. I made the mistake of using shifter housing and ruptured it where it made a bend. Also, the braking was mushy.

I'm so happy Mi. Adopted a 3 ft passing law. Motorists completely deflate when they see a camera and know it a couple hunerd bux fine. I was privileged, on my last ride out of doors, to call 5 oh on a guy for close passing me and being a complete a55 when I caught up to him. He was upset about my use of profanity in the presence of his son. It was ok when he practically murdered me, but how dare I use bad words in the presence of his little boy! That was his justification. Humans suck. People are so disconnected from each other that the turning of a power steering wheel is too much effort.
Man, I gotta go have my coffee. Think I woke up under my bed...
Be careful out there Mo, all ya'll be careful.

I've always wondered what it would be like to do a real climb. All my riding has been in pancake flat TX and IL. A few rides in WI were hilly but those are more steep punchy rollers.

I really like climbs. The longer, the better. I went out to SF a few years ago and did Diablo. That was great. Last year a group of us did Whiteface Mountain in NY State, it's 8 miles at 8% which was also not bad. Sadly, the longest climbs around here are only about 1 mile if you want 7%+. There is one that is 2+ miles but only 4% so I don't count that.

I've never been terribly partial to dogs, although every once in a while I meet one that softens my heart a little bit. But that turns into total distrust and anger when I see them out on the road. I have never been bitten or hit but I've definitely been chased. I cannot stand it.

Hey CNY people!
I posted this in "regional" but no one reads that. I am thinking of a destination hillclimb ride for later this year (late spring or summer) and best candidate seems to be Platt Cove Rd/Devil's Kitchen. Anyone ridden it and have comments on road conditions, traffic, etc??
