Torrential rains here today, so the Cubbies game got moved from 1-ish to 6:10pm. And there's a slight chance that might get rained out too.

Funny you would mention Andalucia as was earlier watching videos of the fair in Seville. It is an opportunity for people to show off their horses and play dressup. Dressing up is fine but I don't see why it is necessary to wear chaps in town. On the other hand, the ladies look fine with flowers in their hair. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDgHlLpdRkI

No and no. The stem clamp/spacer stack is first compressed downward with the steerer cap via a bolt to a star nut (for steel) or expansion plug sitting in the steerer tube. Then the stem clamp is tightened for the definitive fix. Nothing can get stuck except, I suppose, an expansion plug, but it's right there an inch away and clearly visible, so easy to dislodge and retrieve.
I know you'd love a modern bike. I just know it.

I have two Columbus SL, a Tange Prestige, a Tange 1 and a couple lesser bikes which are no less fun to ride. With the tires we have today, I can be assured that anything more modern would undoubtably be no better a rider than what I have now. Big Marketing would be the only winner. I have a shop full of tools and spare parts, and I find working on bikes as enjoyable as riding them. I see no logical reason to ride a modern bike. And, in a thousand years, when all my bikes have rusted away, there will be mountains of plastic bikes clogging the highways, byways and waterways.
Thank you.

Speaking of riding modern bikes, wow does the Cervelo feel markedly different than the Domane. I didn't exactly step on it during my 4 block mosey, but it definitely feels more responsive. I'll have to pay attention to it for the first few rides.

We had a really good ride. As predicted, it was quite cold at the start, but the sun shone brightly and warmed up above freezing an hour or two into the ride.
I did wear the nitrile gloves under my winter gloves, but honestly can’t say if they made much of a difference. Next time maybe I will wear only on one hand so I can do a side-by-side comparison.

Today is my 30th birthday, and I got out for 36 miles.
Nice ride, but I could have done without the last 10 mile slog into a 15mph headwind. Oh well.
Recovery beer and fried chicken have been consumed. Dinner with the folks and my wife tonight.
Cheers!

He recently lost all his NIH funding and his hugely prestigious position at an Ivy League institution for sexual improprieties, but, unfortunately, no one will ever get him on the scientific fraud.

Happy Birthday! I had no idea we had a twenty-something in the group.
