For anyone interested in tires clearances, I put 28mm Michelin Pro 4 v2 rubbers (measure as 30mm) on my girlfriend's 1986 Ironman. Room to spare. Will be moving up to 32mm GP5000s shortly b/c why not?

Your method worked and I've gotten it back together straight and smooth. Just took another ride and didn't notice any problems at all.
I just panicked since I had not seen that before.

Yep we'll do something. I haven't had a chance to talk to the daughter & granddaughter yet but they will likely join in. If she can just hang out in town and wait for a call my wife might could be talked into rescuing any one that has a problem.

My son made his college choice. He spurned the big names for one of the local (big name also) schools Virginia Commonwealth University. 12 minutes away, but a whole different world. Still, that situation is unsettled so the HNH is up in the air.
Anyway, I will help in any way possible. Robbie, figure out what you need to make it happen. My brother who lives there is a captain on the fire department. They probably have some people on the force that are cyclists. I went to school with the former owner of one of the bike shops there. I have not spoken to him since I left, but my brother bumps into him frequently. The local college(my alma mater) has a very strong cycling history. Over 20 national championships, I believe. I think they had a cyclist win one last year. That might be a good source for some SAG support with a donation to the program.
Anyway, make a plan and I will get you some contacts.

Rode with my cycling buddy yesterday and he said he's in provided it's not the 2nd weekend of August. So we're still looking at Aug 29th Right? Also, what distance?

You know your presence would make it better and it’s likely to be memorable.
Perhaps a last shot at fame, meet the famous Texas PB&J, the first Ironmaiden, and a chance for me to relieve you of $100 if I show up at 161 and you fail to make weight.
So there, my friend; “your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it.”

Rode my first metric century of the year on the Ironman Tuesday. I waited until midday so it was pretty hot -- probably in the 90s until nearly 6 pm. But I wanted to check my heat adaptation. I could handle the summer heat fine until my wonky thyroid problem a couple of years ago, which seemed to mess with my body's thermostat. So I'm testing the heat now to see whether I'll be up for a full century in August.
I took a break for an hour after 25 miles, stopped home to refill the water bottles, eat and cool off. Then out again for another 40 miles.
Typical north central Texas rolling terrain, 3,000 feet of elevation gain in 65 miles. Not too bad. I took it easy on the hills in the afternoon and picked up the pace a bit by dusk. Set a few new PRs along the way. And cracked a top ten Sunday (very heavily tailwind assisted). Most of my top tens have been whittled away by younger, stronger cyclists. But that's fine. No way a 62 y/o dude should have a KOM or top ten on any segment worth riding. That only means not many younger, stronger cyclists have bothered to ride a segment.
Felt fine afterward. If all goes well I should be good for a century in August.

I have started a giant restoration project on my '56 Belair and haven't been able to ride a lot. I don't think the daughter & granddaughter have rode but a few times. We might not be up to a century but as far as I know we will be there. I'll try to talk to them on the next few days.

Hey,
Any Ironman aficionados have a spare 650c front wheel that you would consider parting with? I am hoping someone has one or a source.
I need one for a build.
PM is the best way to reach me.

650c? I had to google that. Perfect for an IM. Front only or both?

56's are often underrated, ib my book they are the nicest looking with their two-tone paint schemes....like the IM.
Share some pics of the Tri-5.

Nope. I thought 650c was Schwinn or English 3 speed stuff. I went to some Triathlon site and learned that the 650c are really fast😊

Great help in times of need
56 before starting restoration
Starting to strip the 40 year old paint
Here is the 56 as requested. Its now completely striped and all the trim removed. I hope to get primer on it tomorrow. Then it will suffer a slight delay along with the rest of our normal life. Our town was hit by a F1 tornado and my shop building is now a drive through. We have spent the last three days trying to secure the building and cutting trees that went down. We still have a lot to do.
The back wall and some of the roof is gone too. Picture looks dark because it was taken when we went over to check on it at daylight Saturday morning after the storm.
Ironman content... Samaritans Purse is here helping with the cleanup. The Ironmaiden and two of her sisters are on the team. They have helped with them in Joplin Mo. & Moore Ok. The second from the oldest had to teach some dude how to run a chainsaw today lol

We have around 200 buildings damaged or destroyed. The Longhorn Cafe(used to be Morrow's) is a total loss.
There have been NO reported injuries! Gods blessing to our little town!

Be safe everybody! Remember, most of those storms are traveling at least 30mph. That means that if it's a half a mile away, you have one minute before it's upon you. One minute!

The two guys in this picture are my sons the girl in the hat is the Ironmaiden. For those who don't know she is my granddaughter and the good folks here helped me build her a Ironman. She rode it on RAGBRAI with me and her mom last year. The other girls are her sisters.
