Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yep. I read something a few years back that said that many have adapted to these parts and no longer fly south. I’ve definitely noticed far fewer squadrons overhead flying south. Miss the sight and sound in the fall.

I hope it's okay. I know that they sit still as a defense mechanism, but I was violating social distancing protocols with this fawn and it didn't flee.

I hit a wall. Had to go eat more. I might try to do a little more, but sitting in the shade and enjoying the breeze is really pleasant right now.

Beats having to water it to make it grow, then cut it because it grew. Over and over and over...

Before my parents moved the family from NYC to the country, they had a friend in the Bronx who was a coffee importer. I was probably 6 y.o. We went to his warehouse once and I distinctly remember many sacks of coffee all over the place and the heavenly aroma of coffee beans. I've been drinking coffee steadily since well before that.

The gravel that we're removing was put down around the perimeter of the house. I assume that it was for ease of maintenance/weed prevention?

Guacamole tastes great. Chips are good but since they were made from flour not corn tortillas they came out tasting more like pita chips than tortilla chips. Still quite tasty. Can pair with guacamole OR hummus.

I miss that epic migration also. Large bodies of water moderate local climate with cooler temps in summer and warmer in winter. There are large groups of geese that hang out here for the winter. They have everything they need right here, yummy grass to feed on and water everywhere to teach their goslings the finer points of being a goose. I like having them around.

I see the top 10, then a gap, then me with a grey number. And if I look for leaderboard for this year or today, I get a message saying I need premium to see that. I would not mind seeing it but not gonna pay for it.

I wonder if "Today" is only available if you've (me, in this case) ridden it today, 'cause I can't see it.

As far as the year, you're 7 of 18. No 2 is at 7.6mph and then a jump to 9.3mph for No 1.

My legs were threatening to cramp towards the end of my ride. I wonder if MoAlpha could advise on the proper electrolyte intake to avoid this in the future.

We had a patch of stone in our front yard - it was something that was put in years and years ago. My wife wanted it gone - too many weeds. Yes, there was a barrier, but it was old and holey, and the weeds were finding a way through.

Got it. Interesting. Do you have hills like that in your neck of the woods? I like hills although I prefer 4-10%, the longer the better.
