Kickstands are still cool in my house
not sure where to put this question, but I figure we are from a kickstand generation, soooooooo...here it is.
I bought a Trek Verve 3. Great bike! WHY is there a culture of NO KICKSTANDS? I understand why you don’t find them on Mt Bikes, but on a hybrid there should be one. Someone please explain. Also......
Someone please tell me where to get a kickstand for my Trek Verve 3. There’s a threaded hole for one.

2. Le$$ Profit
3. More Weight
Welcome to the world of insanity where pedals are extra on a $10,000 bike.

For what it's worth, I miss a kickstand too. But it's nothing new - I had to buy one to put on my 1999 Schwinn GS too that I just retired. It's a no go on my new Carbon Specialized though (practically speaking).

Kickstands, Like a rear view mirror, small lights, and a bell are essential on any bike l've owned.
In addition to the added cost and weight, A kickstand is just one more thing the bike manufacturer must sometimes have serviced and adjusted.

If you're going to get a kickstand, double-down on the idea and get an adult kickstand

I have Greenfields on two bikes - the Trek has a rear mount and the Novara has a "regular" one. The Canondale is way too fragile for kickstand.

A friend had a center stand on his Atlantis years ago. That's the only one I can remember in our road club of 500 members for the 31 years I've been a member until last year when a guy joined and he had one on his Trek. Everyone called him "Kickstand" as if it was his name.
I don't really feel the need for one, there's usually something to lean the bike on and if there isn't, I don't mind laying it on it's side.

I wish I could find one I like, for my Sirrus! Carbon would be nice, in semi flat black like the fork.

Has anyone tried the carbon stand that you manually insert and then stores on the frame....like a mini pump?

Always get kickstand for wife's bike (story)
I bought my wife a Trek FX 7.4. She kept asking me for a kickstand so one day we were riding our bikes by the LBS she said let's go in and get my kickstand. She saw me looking at a bike, I told her that this was the next bike I was going to buy. She told me to go ahead and buy it. She came out with a kickstand and I came out with a new Trek Farley EX8 fat bike.

Call me old fashioned but kickstands are a must for me for commuting and running errands. Same for fenders, mirrors, racks, dynamos, bells,. My bikes are primarily utility vehicles first and exercise equipment second.

For my Rivendell, love the Pletcher kickstand. My Brompton, has a built in stand. My Trek, well a tree, building, garbage can, picnic table, car, sign post works quite well.
