I find myself being envious of LoP's ride pics. I freely admit to self-identifying as a rabid roadie. Not so much now
Still I can't see myself going full on mtb. But wider tires off road I think I could live with. I mean drivers are no longer prosecuted, let alone questioned anymore. Everybody knows road cyclists have a death wish. Especially the cops.

I get about 20-25 hours per charge of my 530 using an array of sensors including the Varia. I generally charge them both up at the same time.

As far as 510 vs 515 - I don't think that you can go wrong as long as you get one.

Garmin now has a radar unit without a light - that makes it a little more viable to pair with a light/camera combo unit. Then again, the changing flashing pattern for approaching vehicles is a compelling feature of the Varia, to me.

It's a stupid Google thing. Every so often I'll experience that, though it's been awhile. I go to Firefox, and no sweat, no issue.

I’m sure you could. Granted most of the “big” climbs I do are only 20-30 minutes long, I alternate between a slow mash and spinning, the mashing is well below FTP and the spinning a little bit over. YMMV. I think we’re about the same size (I’m 176#)
One one of the things I like about living here is that we have tons of terrain and hills that get steep, most are over in 4-5 minutes but there are others that take a while. It’s not hard to find a short hill that gets over 10%.

I was not really serious about getting a Varia pre-COVID because almost all my rides were club rides. But now I am doing mostly solo rides and that may continue for quite some time, so the Varia makes sense. I have connected my Garmin 130 to friends' Varia radars on a group ride so I get what the device does and I think it is worth considering for solo riders.
I love mine. I got the new one (515?) just to guarantee getting a new example with a battery that hasn’t been aging on a shelf for a year. The new features are indeed uncompelling.
The bing thing is that it definitely sees cars behind me way before I can hear or see them. The only times I can look back and see them first is on LONG straights, and then still I’d have to turn and look to see them. Usually the Varia beeps at me first. It’s great.

All that makes gear choices really easy, if expensive, and the use case for each item is established by testing, experience, and real world data. I wish to hell we had something like that for cycling beyond, "wear a helmet."

Nope. Never had any issues, I just noticed a couple years ago that when I was tired I would have trouble reading things at a distance. Never gave it much thought. In the last 6 months I have noticed that I have the same problem when I am not tired and the distance seems to be getting smaller. It only affects my reading. I can see a runway 30 miles out, see planes easily when we’re passing in the sky, it’s just letters.
I can use the 1.75s on the bike now even though they aren't strong enough for reading and my eyes are slightly different from each other. I use 'script glasses for driving and they work great for distance but not so great on the bike when I need to see the ground in front of me.

Maybe you're asleep and all of this is a dream. I hear that lucid dreamers test to see if they are in a dream by trying to read something,

Maybe it's just me, but I usually have several stray bar plugs laying around.
For your replacement, I recommend expander-style plugs. Some bar tape comes with this style end, or you can get fancy aluminum ones like these - https://www.universalcycles.com/shop....php?id=102612

Ill do this when I order new tape. Bummed that I ruined the tape so early in its life. I don’t think I can buy the same replacement cervelo tape. Somebody else asked me where I got it.

My wife has been wanting to for years and I have been talking her out of it. I have been hearing bad things about Lasik recently. It can lead to worse eye sight. If my eye sight was bad to the point where I couldn’t fly anymore because of it, then I would consider it.

Go to a store or pharmacy where they have those racks of cheap reading glasses and try some different ones. I started with 1.25 and eventually went up to 1.75 just to have around before I got my first prescription glasses.
I can use the 1.75s on the bike now even though they aren't strong enough for reading and my eyes are slightly different from each other. I use 'script glasses for driving and they work great for distance but not so great on the bike when I need to see the ground in front of me.

Ill give this a try as well. I don’t think I need them when I ride yet.

Beat me to it!
I feel that way about my helmet mirror. If I got a radar I'd probably feel the same way.
And then I would embrace the my inner fred and ride with both the radar and a mirror. It's so convenient to not have to turn my head to look back!

I like expander plugs, cuz they stay in better. Ye olde rubber Cateyes are my favorite, but hard to find these days. The Velox rubbers don't look as good, but work well. And nowadays you can get fancy alumnium ones from various makers in all colours of the rainbow.
