it was blessed by the British touring gods..hehe.
I am sure somebody will know. I am going to go look at a Kodiak , tried to research a bit, looking for s decent touring bike ( light touring)that doesn't weigh a ton.

Seems like a perfect. touring bike to me, I think I even prefer the color scheme to what the Portage came in.

Al check out Miyata 610/615 and 1000, mid-late 80s Schwinn Voyageur, Centurion Pro Tour. Univega gran tourismo and specialissima.

The Portage came with 650B wheels, pretty wild and weird for the mid 1980s, particularly when tire options were very limited.

thanks for tip' I bought a Schwinn Voyageur with champion tubing $250, decent wheel set , but turns out it has toe overlap,, and I noticed the fork seems bent on one side. I am thinking maybe find a fork and check frame alignment, or search again.. If I sell it I will disclose the bent fork.. I do like the color on the Kodiak. would like to hear from some one who road one and what they think. The owner guessed weight at 25 lbs, does not sound to heavy for a touring bike.

There is a great pdf of the line floating around the internet somewhere. There was a fourth Offering in the line, the Wyoming, which was the most basic. Looks like the Kodiak has an upgraded crankset and RD.

My Alyeska just guided my sons on a 160 mile tour over four days the other week, around Long Island Sound. Still a great bike. I recommend the Raleigh USA stuff still. 👍

Here's one that just needs to be dusted off. I posted it in the Looking thread a couple of days ago.
