Don't know if anyone would have detailed info about Argon 18s older stuff, but I do know they started out being made by Marinoni. I just really wanted to know what grade of steel was used in the frame. I already contacted Marinoni and they told me it wasn't them. So I contacted Argon 18 and their frame builder said it was before his time and he didn't have any document or file for the specs of the frame.
It's most likely Columbus, but I really want to know what grade. No lugs, looks like fillet brazed...
thoughts?

No help with ID but sure looks like an aluminum frame to me. The extra thick stays with riveted cable stop remind me of a Cannondale.
Serial number begins AL

Looks like aluminum to me too. The dropouts are thick and the so is the differential in the diameter of the seat tube and seat post. A magnet's your best friend in such a case.

Components appear to be 600 Ultegra with dual pivot calipers and STI. That would put it 1992-1997, assuming the components are OEM. Looking at the serial serial number my guess is that it a 1995-1996 model.

Yes components are OEM, and by golly the magnet tells me the frame is not ferrous, it just seemed a bit heavier than other aluminum frames I've encountered, I assumed it was steel. But ya I suspected with that serial number beginning with AL might have been an indication. Funny the people at Argon 18 didn't mention that after having sent them those pics.

Thanks!
