I'm in search of a a late 70s-80's steel frame road bike with Campagnolo Super Record components. I'm interested in pretty much any frame that fits me. I am 5'4. My budget is about 900. Paint doesn't have to be perfect, I'm perfectly comfortable with something that needs work but I've been looking on my local craigslist and FB marketplace and not much comes up in my size lately unfortunately. If you've got a small bike you're willing to part with I would love to see it.

I have a Atala available. While it does not have Super Record on it, I have purchased, most, if not all, of the components to convert it to Super Record. And while my goal was to get it out before my move, I am moving to Lexington next month. I know you posted on that thread. I have a couple other 52cm frames as well, but they are not build up.

I don't think I have that frame size but I have SR drivetrain (crank*, front and rear) and brake levers. If you're interested in those, let me know. the drivetrain is in excellent condition, the levers are non-aero, rider quality, and without hoods.

*for the sake of accuracy, I believe no SR crank was actually produced during that time period, only SR rings mated to an NR crank. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

I believe you are correct, it is just the rings, otherwise same as NR.

As "Super Record" is a Thing, but few bikes actually are set up ALL super Record, a little wondering what it means to you.

In the 80's "Super Record - Reduced" was all Super Record, with Superleggeri pedals and steel, (nuovo record) bottom bracket. The Racers Super Record.

Even with the defined above, $900 I think will be a challenge to find unless the wheels are shot, ratty saddle, hoods, etc.

At the very end of the run, what I will call the "super Record" crank ARMS are the units with no arm fluting, laser etched logo, and most importantly, on the backside between the arm and the two nearest spider arms, CNC milling that added a bunch of material and solved the stress fracture issue.

It may require a bit of dancing around (and perhaps more money) to get the right mix.

It may be worth finding a good frameset independently, then keeping your eyes peeled for ANY bike (any size) with the right components and price point. Simply swap components and sell the other frameset.

eBay and nationwide CL search engines are a good start. Don’t eliminate overseas sellers - I’ve purchased framesets from sellers in Europe for about the same shipping cost as US-based sellers.

Thanks for the input y'all. I am willing to shell out more money if I can find something I like. I would prefer to find a whole bike but I am also searching for SR groups as well if I can find a frame.

How much longer does shipping from Europe take to the US if I find something overseas?

sometimes quickly, and sometimes a bear. I have gotten a frame and components from Italy in 10 days and another from France that took 3 weeks. From Poland, it took 9 weeks.

In my search for a bike with a complete SR groupset I've found it to be a challenge. I personally like a full matching group.

It's either a mix of SR and Dura ace or a mix and 2-4 pieces of SR.

If you're willing to go a bit above 900 I'd say find a frame that catches ur attention and slowly gather SR bits.

I found a Chirico and it is being shipped here from Italy. I will post a thread as I go through the process of cleaning up and getting it ready to ride when it comes in the mail. (whenever that will be)
