I've always been of fan of overkill, 'specially when it comes to tools for creating, but there are times when even I pump the brakes - this is one of these times. Just got an email for this very swag bit of precision kit: a jig for holding and shaping, a sweet little hand plane to use with said jig, a separate jig for boring and some necessary bits and bobs to complete the job. This kit is currently on sale for $699. Any guesses on what this makes?

Since the Spoiler thing seems to be broken... highlight the white text for the answer - it's for making your own pencils.

I didn't have to because I once read an article in Smithsonian Invention and Technology about the history of pencil manufacture.
That was a wonderful, skinny, quarterly published by the Smithsonian and sponsored by GM. Old man Sloan's successors sent it gratis to all MIT grads for a while.

Anyone with any experience with Scott shoes? Curious how they hold up and whether they fit true to size, large or small.
I typically wear a 10.5/44.5, but the ones I've been looking at come in either 44 or 45 these days. Curious if a 45 will feel big. Can't find them local to try on so shooting in the dark to some degree.

Why Scott? That a fairly obscure brand in relation to cycling shoes.

I put a new chain on my Gunnar because it looked really bad. I figured the rest of the drivetrain was trashed but I wanted to try just the chain because I don't ride it very often. When I put the chain on I noticed the cassette looked pretty bad but I rode it for a couple hours on Wednesday and it didn't skip/slip. A weird thing happened, though when in the 39x28 (it's a 6600 triple) and pedaling easy. The chain would lean way over on the 39 and grind and try to drop onto the small ring. I mean, the chain would almost turn sideways.
I found an Ultegra 39 tooth ring on sale for $20 so I ordered it. I hope that makes the drivetrain fully functional again.

After a week of "Origin Post is preparing shipment", the front wheel for Mrs. Peel has arrived in the US! Also, the paint I bought is a good match, good enough that I won't need to mix with anything. I still had to decide whether I'm going to try sanding to make the surface less uneven after.... Just how obsessive am I?

That's what the wife and I are scheduled for, even though most report that it's got the biggest kick to the gonads. First and foremost, it was the first available for us, and second, my wife was saying that it was what she was most comfortable with, in terms of efficacy vs newer strains. I asked her if it was a good idea that we both get it at the same time, with the potential of both of us feeling like **** simultaneously. She didn't seem concerned. Oh well, whatever - I just work here.

I had low grade fever and brief low-grade nausea, as well as high grade fatigue which naps took care of. Lasts a single day. Moderna, 2nd shot. First shot produced no reaction.

Pfizer first shot, no symptons at all, second shot, maybe a little tired for a few days. Wife got Moderna, First shot red swollen arm at injection site for weeks. Google said it was "Moderna Arm". Second shot on other arm, just tender for a few days.

Moderna first shot - Slight headache and mild nausea. Made for a good excuse to leave work and nap at home. Second shot scheduled for 5/5.
