Whew, just mowed the SE lawn and shoveled and raked a half yard of red cinders. Gonna have to call it quits for outdoor work today.

Time to start thinking about forward compatibility with 12s drivetrains? Anyone think the fact that the Kickr comes with a cassette is a negative, not a positive -- you are paying for it, but maybe or maybe not works with the length of chain you have for the cassette you have on your regular bike(s)?

So, I think you mean "Yes" is your answer to the question to fact that the Kickr does come with a cassette is a negative (since you throw them away)?

Sometimes when I ride my Gunnar people think it's a C&V type bike. Yesterday we passed a lady on a steel bike without graphics but it had downtube shifters. We exchanged pleasantries and she said it was nice to see another old bike out there. I told her it was from 2006. Oops, hers was from 1989. I told her mine just looks old.
A couple months ago a guy said it was cool to see an old bike in the mountains. I think he was disappointed when I told him it wasn't as old as he thought.

Supposedly, 12 speed Shimano is said to fit an 11 speed hub so if a person went to 12 speed, one could just fit a new cassette.
Personally, I don’t have a problem with buying a new quality cassette for my Kickrs if and when I ever go to 12.
Edited to add, the Kickr cassette is a Sun Race, IIRC. I have a new Kickr that I just un-boxed and I’m pretty sure that is what it was.

Delightful day on the bike! When I saw that this weekend was supposed to be hotter, I feared the worst - 100 degrees and smoke. But it's more 80s-low 90s which is actually pretty comfy on the bike, because the humidity is below 40%, so sweating actually works to cool you, rather than just getting in your eyes and running off you in rivulets. I rode all by RPE, since my HR strap is buggered and the new one isn't here yet.
I took the Ritchey, and I gotta tell you - Tom Ritchey knows how to design a road bike. It does everything right, even after 25 years. I've got lighter bikes, and fancier bikes and faster bikes, but I don't have any that are better.

Rode several miles this morning on the wheel of a very strong rider who had his phone in his jersey pocket, playing pop hits of the 80s and 90s. Horrible.
