1991 Colnago Master Olympic Krono Pursuit Pista
I'm looking at acquiring a 1991 Colnago Krono Master Olympic track bike(funny bike). My question is this, which is rarer? The track bike version or the TT?

I would speculate the rarity of either is about equal -- maybe a slight edge to the pista version-- (both pretty rare machines though because of how specialized their nature is)
Those wheels look the same size in the pic -- are you sure that's a funny bike? It looks like a pursuit frame (funny bike would have a 24" front wheel in that size bike typically )

It's a 650C. Here's some side shots of the same bike, as it's previous owner was building it and dealing parts. I'll be taking ownership of it next week. And yes, it is a Pursuit frame. I thought funny bikes included them because of the frames seat tube and Top Tube shape.

Here's another photo of the same bike, built with a Hipster in mind.

The S seat tube does not -- KHS actually used a similar seat tube design on a cheap (around 1000$ or less) factory built track frame in the late 90's
Do you have any shot at all of getting that TT seat and double disc Campy wheelset?

Cool - no - 700c back/650c front make it a funny bike - couldn't see that with the original photo angle

No, seller won't part with them. Can't say I blame him. I am getting this saddle with it.

Rarity of the TT or Pista versions is something I could only speculate on. Personally I've only ever seen one TT version and it was here in my little town. It was red too. I only had time to yell, "Nice bike." as it stealthly passed by.
I can understand your excitement and need to know all about your beautiful new acquisition as it's such a desirable frame (in my humble opinion). Are you going to go 'all out' with the components and set it up to your 'ultimate' specifications? I will be looking forward to future pics.

Track bike isn't a TT bike is it? I thought a track bike had "regular" horizontal TT geometry, but with horizontal dropouts in the rear, whereas a funny bike was defined as 700/650. I don't understand "track bike(funny bike)", followed by, "which is rarer? "track bike version of the TT"? I'm not getting any of this.

I'm not really understanding this.

What's not to understand? A track bike is like the one I'm getting. It's a fixed gear bike with no brakes, for riding on a track or Velodrome. A TT bike or Tike Trial bike, is a geared bike, made for riding in a straight line, as fast as possible. Track bikes have horizon drop outs with no gears. TT bikes have normal road drops and gears. I'll include a photo of each.

"Funny bikes" are difinitely "niche" bikes in this world of C&V......
Although a lot of them are usually priced very high by their sellers, the real selling values on these bikes are all over the place as there are just not that many who would take on collecting and riding such bikes because of the physical challenges that come with them.....
What would help elevate values of such bikes at this point is the provenance that might come with a very few of them. If a particular bike happens to have been a pro team bike, then collectors would definitely be interested. Otherwise, the value of such bikes would be set by what the new owner will plan to use it for and who needs it more at that time......

And yes, this bike was owned by a pro race. The owner I'm getting it from, pulled it from the the original owners bedroom closet.

If I had to guess, track funnies are rarer than TT funnies. I own a simple TT funny (bianchi krono) and the only funnies I've seen are TT (road) funnies.

No worries! I'm glad I could help clarify. I'm new to all of this myself and am still searching for knowledge. I just emailed some info on my bike to a lady at Colnago.

While this bike was designed for the track it would only be used for an individual pursuit or team pursuit. The small “24”” front wheeled bikes were rule written out pretty quickly.
actually I would have to re read if even 650c front wheels are now still legal.
this bike with the “bull horn” bars and small front wheel would not be allowed in anything other than a race against time even way back.
no mass start, or sprint competition.
so, very specialized use.
