Atala ID Help

Someone had this bike out by the road for sale cheap so I bought it. I think it is a Grand Prix from around 1971 based on some other posts on this site. This one dose not seem to have a serial number is there a way to find out what year it is? Would the campagnolo detailers have a date stamped into them? Any chance the steel rims and stem are original?

yes, date looks right

usually serials are placed on side of seat tube about four or five cms below seat lug

you might wish to check this area under strong lighting in case marking was put in lightly

usually, the fame size as measured in inches c-t-t is stamped in two places on the underside of the bottom bracket

---

stem and saddle cannot be original but balance of fittings appear to be OEM, from what is visible in images supplied

Agree with juvela, definitely looks like a 1971 Grand Prix Model 104 M, made of Tullio high tensile tubing and with Valentino Extra derailleurs.

Thanks for the help. With the bike outside and using a flashlight I am able to see the serial number. The bike is a 1973. Can anyone tell me what brand the
stem should be?

the OEM stem & bar set was a 3TTT Tourist

bar may well be original

here are some images of a set, the extension in this case is nine cm -

Agree; this is an early 70s Atala Gran Prix.
