The problem I ran into was that everything except the first six threads has a date of 2018. I inadvertently necro-posted, and got a (polite, deserved) spank.
I think this should not be a landing page, or we are probably going to see a lot more Zombie threads.

As a workaround, there is a menu along the left side that will take you into a given subforum. If you go into "general" at the top will be a link to "bike forums" and then another one to "bike forums." If you click on the second one it will give you the old view. You can do a similar thing for the other groups of subforums, like the racing forum. Except the link to the 33 is broken, at least for me. So you go into Junior racing and then click on the link to the racers forum at the top and then you can get into 33.
I'm probably just babbling at this point.

Add another vote for either unwinding this change completely, or, in the unlikely event that more than 8 people don't hate it, at least providing a "don't tell me what posts are 'trending,' whatever the hell means, just give me the list o' forums" URL so that we can change our bookmarks and then pretend that this abomination doesn't exist.

Hi guys!
Apologies about this. While the Trending Homepage is going to be the default from now on (i.e. you will see it if you are logged out), there SHOULD have been an option to disable. I will ask tech to fix that, ASAP.
That said, the Trending Page does still have easy access to the entire list of forums.
Thank you for the feedback and your understanding.

- On desktop, it will be on the left, under "Forum Directory".
- On mobile, it will be in the hamburger menu on the right.
Thank you for the feedback and your understanding.

With all due respect, the page serves no purpose.
If you're logged out, it's not going to make the site appear easy to use and entice opening an account.
If you're logged in, it will promote posts in the incorrect sub forums.
If you know there is a way to opt-out (and where to find it), then the two above are mute. But why force an opt-out, lets go opt-in.
Sincerely
Barry

I have to assume that's the case. I've never encountered a change in a site I use frequently that was an improvement for me. But I figure they must work for someone.
Still puzzled as to why the trending posts are from 2018.

Here's the link for the new posts page that gets (me) back to the old format:
https://www.bikeforums.net/search.php?searchid=14518923
Here's what I see logging on BF

Selecting "new posts" takes me right to the old view

I've asked tech to roll back the change until we add the opt-out option in the User CP. I'll provide detailed instructions on how to turn it off when we roll it back out.
Did anyone use the hamburger menu for navigation? It contained links to essentially all forums, which would then display in the regular fashion.

Some feedback:
Sorry, but accessing the entire list of forums is not "easy" anymore. It is cumbersome to navigate, and fills up the page until you scroll to the EXACT subforum / category you want to look at.
I checked out a vast majority of the other IB owned forums, on both a desktop and mobile devices.
Their main site pages are crisp, clean, well organized, actually professional looking, and when you click on the "forum" access tabs, to the not-logged-in user such as myself, the main forum pages display as it "used to be" here, with SIMPLE AND EASY front page access to all categories and subforums. None of this "hamburger' nonsense, or you gotta go looking in lengthy multiple dropdowns to get where you want to go.

Heck, even flyertalk has their forum dropdown well organized, with "trending" posts on the main page at the same time.

The only other IB site that I could find which has the "new" BF type arrangement is Fodor's travel, after you click their EASY TO USE main page forum dropdown menu and click on "View All Forums".

After seeing these other IB owned sites, I was pretty saddened as to how Bike Forums seems low budget and haphazard in comparison.

So the issue with the Auto Comm sites you mentioned is that... they look 25 years old. The redesign is closer to more modern forums. We are also working on "Subscribed Trending"

I don't recall a hamburger menu. I was using the menu along the left side of the page.
I think the issue of any such menu is you can't tell if you want to go look at new activity. Granted, it does say if there are new posts.

The hamburger menu was a clunky way to browse the forums. Definitely not an improvement over the current forum and subforums page.
Thank you for the rollback!
