Riding in hail

i was coming back from school today..it was raining. After a few minutes all the little droplets froze and hail started pelting me. It kinda felt like someone throwing hundreds of thousands of little pebbles at my body at high speeds and actually hurt quite alot. Anyway i was wearing a helmet so that helped a bit

i woulda posted this in the winter forum but its two months into spring :S

any similar experiences?

edit: now its snowing ...two months into spring

Had that happen to me last spring. Only it was sunny and warm when I started so all I had on was shorts and a T shirt. The helmet protected my head but my thighs got beat to hell.
Hurt a lot.

I ride all year'round and I find that it feels like a thousand needles trying to drive through your face!

I've ridden in hail, once. It hardly ever hails around here (only twice in the last eight years+ that I've been here). I don't find it as nice as torrential rain, but there are far worse things than hail to ride in.

I guess you could say all 'hail' broke loose, huh?

So how long will it be before the first post saying "I love riding in the hail, it's so refreshing!"? (a little dig at all those "I love riding in the rain" folks...)

The riders from west of Tennessee will know what I am talking about with this story.

We have had the worst spring weather I have ever witnessed in my life. Tornado watch, Tornado warning and sevear thunder storm warnings and watches almost every day for nearly a month!
The hail storm my daughter and I where caught up in last week no one here would have ridden a bike through! I thought it was going to take out all the windows and strip the paint. Hail the size of ping pong balls hitting like a home run baseball! The wind was so fierce I don't think a man could have stood up in it either.
This is why you don't hear of very many people riding in the rain , especially this time of year, in the mid west and south. The lightning on top of that can do you up like a cat in the microwave also!
