SRAM X9 9sp Derailleur alternative?
Hi all:
Fixing up a bike for a friend and the rear derailleur (SRAM X9 9sp) is in horrible condition. Would anyone know of a replacement alternative for these, as they are pretty hard to find in my area. I have found a place that states the shift ratio is the same as Shimano MTB 11 speed RD and that they should be compatible, but they go on to say they haven't tried it...
Can anyone confirm or suggest an alternative?

Here's a chart listing most derailleurs with their pull ratios and other useful data. Looks like only some older SRAM models share the same 1.3 ratio of your X9. Didn't see any Shimano RD's with that. Bicycle Cassettes & Drivetrains - Google Sheets

For ChinookTx: You can try to find a Shimano and experiment…no problem with that but be prepared for possible failure…or you can buy A SRAM X5 new for $40 US. Or you can go the used route. I have several X9s squirreled away and might be willing to part with one. PM me.

Thank you cyccommute for the offer, but being in Canada, shipping would most certainly kill a good deal. I have found a few X9s locally, I'll see what my friend's budget allows. I was looking at X5s too. I'm carpooling with the friend I'm rebuilding this for tomorrow, we'll discuss options on the way to work. Thanks for your insights!
