1973? Mercian frame & fork 56 cm, Campagnolo bb
Selling from: Cleveland, OH, 44111
Payment: PayPal f&f, or add fees
Price: 200$ plus shipping. SOLD
Frame and fork for sale, Campagnolo bottom bracket included, also the head set, not marked, seat post bolt and the cable brake guides, as seen in pictures.
Some numbers on the bottom braket : 640 73 and a 5.
56 cm seat tube (C to top);
56 cm top tube (C-C).
Rear ends and fork ends are marked Campagnolo.
No frame tubing sticker, but i believe is a Reynds 531, and it takes a 27.2 seat post.
The wheels were 700C.
The paint has scratches and marks, also some tar from the road on the bb. Looks that the frame was complete chromed before painting, as there are some scratches where can be seen the chrome under paint.
The chrome.is good, but there is some lost chrome on the fork.
See pictures for more details and ask for more details or pictures if needed.

Based on the lugs and fork crown it looks like a Professional. The 5 indicates that it was built by Derek Land. Handsome color, someone should jump on this. My 87 Pro (also built by Mr. Land) is the one I’d keep if I could only have one.

Ascherer nailed it. '73 Professional built by Derek Land, who built my son's KOM in 1971 and my Vincitore road custom fixed-gear in 2002. My prediction - it will ride like a dream. My '82 Colorado (531C tubing, round section fork blades and rapid taper stays, spearpoint BB shell and I think Haden lugs) blew my Rivendell out of the water in terms of being simultaneously stable and smooth handling with a sense of wanting to cover ground swiftly.
.
The '73 Professional will be all Reynolds 531; Mercian apparently never used anything but Reynolds tubing.

The OP said it came with 700c wheels. Plus 700c wheels are (everything else being equal) a better choice because of the tire availability. Pretty bike. Looking forward to seeing the build thread.

Update: picked up frame set on Sunday and finally got to meet Marius. Nice guy!
I have my first challenge with the headset: the lower seat tube race came out in my hand on disassembly. Will start new thread.
