1987 Alpineer Race Bike
Built by Rich Chillingworth in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This was purchased for the asking price of $75 at a garage sale about 10 years ago from the original owner (a woman). She had it built to race USCF but only wound up racing 1 year. After a thorough clean-up, the bike is nearly flawless. The workmanship on the frame is outstanding. Reynolds 531 Professional tubes. Full 7400 Dura Ace gruppo. Campagnolo Record Chrono tubular rims.
Anyone else have an Alpineer or heard of them?

Thanks guys! It's my size too - 51cm with 52.5 top tube. Even has my preferred 165 crank arms. I actually rode the bike regularly the first year or 2 after getting it. Super fun ride. Now it's mostly a wallhanger and I ride it maybe 3-4 times a year. I don't want to get it dirty!

For sure. The bike was built in Tulsa. So is it there because the rim (or wheel) was marked to go to the Alpineer shop? Or was it raced in Tulsa and this indicates a wheel that was used in that race? Or .... ???
I've been able to find very limited information on Alpineer. In fact, this is about it. An article from the Tulsa Wheelmen newsletter December 2004.
