The only point in having separate aero and climbing race bikes is if the aero bike is significantly above the UCI 6.8 kg weight limit. So if they can now optimise aero without compromising on min weight then there is no case for a dedicated climbing race bike within the UCI regs. Only bikes like the Aethos make any sense as dedicated hill climbing weapons outside of UCI regulations.
So I think it’s just a matter of time before they all follow Specialized in producing a single road race frame.

Maybe in a few years they will come out with an aerodynamically optimized triple chainring with smaller cassettes.

All that logo needs now are a set of Audi HID lights & a toyota RAV4 Prime back-up alert sound box module.

Your logic makes sense, and I assume Trek is having trouble justifying both models in the face of an industry downturn. From a business perspective it makes sense. I'm just not excited about the potential merger of the Madone and the Emonda into one hybrid package. I'm probably in the minority.

he’s not cross-chaining - you can clearly see the teeth of the largest sprocket, which would me invisible if the chain was sitting on them - he’s on the second-largest sprocket

I fail to see the difference between the brand being on the side of the bike.

The pros have realised that they might as well use their aero road bike in the mountains, so the need for a "climbing" bike with less aero, that weighs exactly the same within a few grams is pointless. They might switch from 50 to 30 mm deep wheels for mountain stages, but that's about all.

It should be the Daemon because (take your pick):
The diamond shaped tail cutout
Divinity in some form of Greek
Archaic form of demon

You could also go with Andmoe. That would make it the third stooge after the Madone and Emonda.

I’m wondering if Trek will ever discover that there are more letters in the alphabet besides aedmon.

Two biggest and two smallest cogs are considered cross-chaining in my conservative mind my chain probably lasts longer than yours for this reason.

Chains are a lot more flexible these days, and I don't think World Tour pros worry about chain wear.
