Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Must be a cancer charity event.
THE ULTIMATE FOOD, WINE, AND CYCLING EVENT IN NAPA VALLEY ...I don't know if it's "the ultimate", but it's a popular cancer charity ride hereabouts. And there's wine.
There's another annual charity Century down through the Sacramento Delta winery country, but it's usually to raise money for the Children's Home orphanage, not money for cancer research.

This whole town (Sacramento) has jumped into the cancer research and treatment business with both feet, up to the hips. Between UC Davis and Sutter. if you're gonna have cancer, this is the place to get it.

Whew, made it home! Sidewalks are coated in about a 1/4" of ice so I very carefully walked home, taking the grass/dirt routes where possible. It's super beautiful out with the full moon's light glistening offa everything. The wind is howling through the window screens.

Fired up the laptop and Winders 11 is helpful as always:

Actually, it means a lot more than that, like not having an age distribution like an inverted pear, where a decreasing number of young workers support an increasing number of old people. Plus we're a resource-rich country that has traditionally thrived because people came here to build a better life, and they did. We get the ones who ae willing to take risks for a better life, and that helps propel us forward.

Yota had their rally stars create special edition Yarises (Yari? Yarix? Yareese?) with the drive modes of their choice. Kalle Rovanperä Edition GR Yaris has donut mode:

I make it the cheap and easy way, with Nestle's Abuelita. Microwave about 10oz milk for 3 mins, then crack one of these babies in half, put it in the milk and stir like the dickens 'til it looks ready enough

Made up a big pot of turnip soup beginning of the week, only to discover my wife does not like it. More for me, I guess.

The catch: The buyer must create a “preservation easement” for 26 acres that includes the terraced building, two guard stations, a driveway and 4,800 parking slots. In short, the 51-year-old building must be preserved.

Uncle Sam has determined the Brutalistic-style, seven-story building designed by William Pereira has historic importance in its resemblance to “the ancient ziggurats.”
...not me. I've been burned before by preservation easements.

All your arguments would be valid, if a proper whetting process was in place where the immigration authorities could ensure that criminals and other “undesirable” individuals were excluded from crossing our border. But from what I have repeatedly read, this does not seem to be the case.
