1972 Atala Record (?) Columbus & Campagnolo
This is my second Atala, the first being the Pista I restored a while ago. Found this beauty locally for a whopping $60.
It appears to be original however information on these specific models seems to be mixed. Columbus tubing with full Campagnolo with the only exceptions being the brakes and brake levers (unmarked).
From experience I'm certain I can get her looking close to new which is what I'm most lookig forward to most.
I'm certain she was imported long ago by Village Cycles family in the late 60's.

Looks pretty much original , and in nice shape . Just a bit of cleaning. A bike like that for $60 …in Los Angeles? WOW! To clean it right , and get the light rust off , I would completely disassemble, clean , grease , and reassemble with new cables ,chain, tires , and bar wrap. Still a very good deal.

Great bike and you WILL love the ride quality. I truly enjoyed mine...
That said, I had an old catalog, years ago, and the Atala came with Universal stoppers (as are fitted to the OP's bike) or could be ordered with Campy brakes. Either would, in my opinion, be considered original/ I kept the Universals...

Levers are Universal

The serial number of my recently acquired Competizione is only 10 numbers off yours, ending in 1054. The color scheme looks identical, which is a bit surprising. I'm fairly certain that they used the same frame for both models and just used lesser components to get the price down on the Competizione.The only differences I spot in the frame are the chrome seat lug was left exposed on the Professional, and the Competizione lacked the spearpoints on the demarcation between paint and chrome on the forks and stays. I got mine as a urbanized incomplete bike from the local bike co-op. Since I volunteer there, and it was worth it to me, I donated $50 for it. My plan is to build it up mostly as original, since I have pretty much everything to do so, though I'll put Nuovo Record derailleurs on it.
