I have since bought this frame...

The OP I presume put the frame up on Craigslist and I fell in love and traded for it. I love the Faema style colorways and long point BB lug work. I got some stains out with a mr clean erasor and a bit of testors touch up paint. Here are some photos of my rebuild:

Lovely bike! I was lucky enough to find a Mercian Olympic frame (year unknown) and bits last year for a great price. Turned out to be a wonderful bike to ride! The frame was discolored and sad, and I was able to remove only some of the discoloration. So I matched the frame to some of the more beat up vintage bits, and it turned out really well. The only issue I have is trying to get the Universal side pulls to actually stop the bike . . .

So only small life and death issues.
Keep those vintage brakes and don't leave your driveway.
Please post daily ride pics.
Emoji?
Hey, I'm just a jealous guy.
I lusted after a Mercian a few decades back when the price was out of my range.

Oh, I keep fussing with them. It's the leverage issue again, sort of like with older Campagnolo brakes but a bit worse. I can pretty easily get enough power if I brake from the drops, but on the hoods it's a challenge. I certainly don't push myself on the roads! It's best off as a trail ride for now.

This is better than it was!

One thing I didn't notice in the original posting: the sales sticker at the bottom of the seat tube is from "Bud's Bike Shop", which used to be on First Street in Claremont, CA. I spent many an hour there while I was in college nearby. They were best known for their affiliation with Santana tandems.

There's still a bike shop there, but the original owners sold out a decade or more ago.

I'm not sure about the sticker. These are photos from the day I brought her home and there is no sticker. I don't remember removing any stickers.

If you go back up to the very first post in this thread, the sticker is visible there. Looks like it got removed before you bought it.
