Stop by the KRE radio station. My pop was a supporter of the radio museum when it was there. Article has a shot of Wolfman Jack at the controls during filming of American Graffiti.

This hopped up Shogun is a pleasure to ride, I did the local loop non stop except for traffic necessities.
I just replaced the functional 9 speed Ultegra shifters with a set of almost new Dura Ace. The Ultegra now seem a little sloppy and forgiving, like an old Datsun 4 speed trans. These DA are really precise and don't reward a less than confident shift.

That was going to be my guess but only because I recognized a sheet bend with an extra loop in it. Thanks again Botty for the great pics!
I went longish today with a little pep in my step because the forecasted mid afternoon rain had been moved up to early afternoon by the time I started. I got in 40+ , arriving back home as the first scattered drops fell. Many of today’s roads featured on Stage 3 of the C’ville Bike a Palooza in 2021 so some of you may recognize the landscape.
Blue Ridge and rain to the west
Wesley Chapel Rd. Notoriously bad gravel here typically but not so bad today due to the wet spring.
I stopped for a snack and a couple of fellas, hanging out at the other end moseyed over to see if I had anything for them. This guy (pony I think but maybe a donkey?) was very interested in my Gatorade bottle but I moved the bike away before he could make his move. Head scratches but no snacks from me.

While you were doing that, got in a quick (and I do mean quick) 20 miles with my daughter and SiL just before the rain hit here.
For some inexplicable reason, they both get faster and I get slower….

I had the opportunity to get out again today for a few hours. Same direction but different roads.
I'm not too good at riding selfies. This one's OK I guess.
Blue Mountain Road. Catskills Escarpment beyond.
I heard then spotted this beautiful little falls on a private road just off a road I've ridden many times. Someone drove by as I finished taking pictures, and we simply waved at each other. Glad I wasn't chased away.

A friend and I got out for about a 2 hour ride in mid 70 temps on Saturday on our 1981 and 1982 Treks, his a 610, black, and mine a 614, red.
Before that we had a couple hours of wrenching under the shade of an old Magnolia tree.
It was a good day of urban riding and wrenching.

London awoke to blue skies and sunshine, so after a prolonged spell of crappy weather, and with rain forecast later i was tripping over myself trying to get out and rolling.
Was nice and quiet as a rolled along the riverside.....
And Easter Monday holiday meant is was even quieter in the square mile, the business district.
Some nice light effects up close to the Gherkin...
..the Lloyd's building also looking clean and shiny but has to settle for the shadows as the bike basks in the sun.
And a new artwork spotted as I head home for lumch...
After lunch and tea it was still dry, so i grabbed the Denti which I've not.ridden in a while and headed out again to make the most of it.
Normally if I see a pack of hounds ready for a chase, I'd be panicked and pedalling furiously in.the other direction, but these ones are harmless....release the hounds!
The other thing that has me pedalling furiously in the other direction is approaching rain, and us Brits are conditioned to always have an eye on the skies..
But sometimes it can't be escaped and rolls in like an ominous alien craft blocking out the sun and you know you're in for a drenching...
...and so my luck ran out and I got a hosing from the heavens, It only lasted a few mins but still that counts another little weather war lost, bah! I pose for a final pic outside the Royal Albert Hall.....
....i.squelch the last few miles home and check the weather forecast for the rest of the week, its sun and showers every day for the rest of the week, so rinse and repeat it is then.

darkmoon good to see you out on your Merckx as we start what the Belgian's call 'Holy week', the week book-ended by Tour of.Flanders today (which Eddy won twice) and Paris Roubaix next weekend (which Eddy won 3 times). They are also my.favoirite 1 day races of the year, so I had to take a Merckx out today too and reunite it with some cobbles.
My 30c tyres make them easier than the teeth chattering 23c or even 21c tyres of yore.

Many Japanese don't know Yokohama is a hilly city.
There are countless roads like this, with nonslip concrete.
They are bumpy for the bikes.
The max grade of this road is 17%, ahead of the right curve.
It's better than Koppenberg, but I couldn't climb up with 39x27.

Evening test ride to check the new tyres and rear light. With the use of the Silca Tire pressure calculator I'm running 3.5 bar front and rear and that felt incredibly smooth and fast. Even over some pretty bumpy streets.

I rode a loop in the east bay hills…started in Berkeley, then rode through campus, into Oakland and Montclair, before climbing up a Snake Rd. Before riding the ridgeline back to Berkeley. About 23 miles & 2,000+ feet of climbing. A beautiful, clear day in the Bay Area with temps in the low 70s and no wind.
On the way back, I stopped for some replacement koolstop pads/holders. I prefer to keep things original but these old, dry Modolo Pro blocks aren’t cutting it, and a man’s gotta be able to stop!

Sunny and warm, I ride into the Mountains.
On wide trails over trestles.
No cars and very few people.
Passing by lake and ponds, rivers and a waterfall.
A steep descent down a rough logging road to pavement.
Down the old highway, devoid of vehicles.
Speed without effort.
A short punchy climb back up to the trail.
I cut through an old neighborhood where we lived when we first moved here over 30 years ago.
Memories of our young family when I pass by our old home.
The log house that became too small after our son was born.
Speedy descent on silky pavement past luxury homes with expansive views behind locked gates to North Bend.
Mixing it up with traffic now after passing under the Interstate.
Relief comes in the form of a greenway trail by the edge of a housing development.
And I'm riding again on a dirt trail in a tunnel of trees following the river home.

All rides have to end somewhere. This about 10 ft from where this one gets parked. Short ride around the neighborhood ,temp not bad at 55 but wind gusting to 30 mph stopped me from coasting down hill into wind. I gave up after 30 minutes.

I’m in in the Westlake Village, CA area (north of LA) visiting family where I grew up. I rode 25+ miles into Hidden Valley, one of my favorite and most nostalgic of places to ride. I did this ride countless times as a teenager and never grow tired of it—idyllic farm country just on the edge of suburbia, often used for car commercials and the like.
My elementary school alma mater.
A view of my ‘90 Merlin with part of Lake Sherwood in the background.
Behind the bars & through the valley.
USA-made.
A short climb at the end of the valley.
A view looking back over Hidden Valley.

30 sporty miles around two local lakes on the Cherubim Sportif. Recently installed a vintage Sugino PX series 46/36/26 triple to enable better climbing on the steep, abrupt gravel roads in this area.
Then it rained, so came home muddy.

cooperryder I love the old steel Treks. I see that you found some high ground for your photo during the ride around Dallas/Fort Worth. Are there hills at all in your area (other than overpasses)? I've got a daughter in College Station and they have a few rolling hills.

This morning, I did one of my other favorite rides near where I grew up: the “Rock Store climb,” about a 2+ mile curvy ascent from the Rock Store, a popular biker hangout, up Mulholland Dr.
The plan was almost scrapped when I passed the Road Closed and No Cyclists or Pedestrians signs at the bottom of the Rock Store climb, but we proceeded until we reached the area of concern. Fortunately, there were no workers to send us back.
After walking around the collapsed section, here’s another look back to where the first photo was taken.
A rewarding view from the top of the Rock Store climb. If you look closely, you can see lots of twists and turns of the road.
Meet my new friend, Ralph. We road up to a light together early in the ride, were headed the same way, got to chatting, and spent the rest of the ride together.
A view looking west from the ridge of the Santa Monica Mountains, with a sliver of the Pacific in the distance.
There was a chance of rain early, but it turned out to be a beautiful day, with the hills showing off their cloaks of verdant green against striking rock formations and vibrant blue and white skies.

I have 700 x 38 Gravel Kings on mine and it rolls ever so smoothly.
I'm located in the more northern part of Dallas County and it's relatively flat with some minor inclines here and there in areas I ride .
In the southern part of the county there are some fair size hills that lower gears would definitely be welcomed.
I still have triple cranks on most of my bikes as I'm old and slow and like my granny gear being available just in case.
For the picture of our two Treks we are on a fairly new bridge the city built over a freeway to connect three multi-use paths.
I have a daughter that went to A&M University over a decade ago and really liked her time down in College Station.

One more jaunt through Hidden Valley this morning. I joined my twin brother and former club for the start of their group ride. Most of the group planned to continue on to the beach/PCH and return on one of the long canyon climbs, but I cut off early so I could drive myself and my daughter back to the Bay Area today.

Weekend rec ride
It was hana gumori, cloudy in the cherry blossom season.
Couldn't see Mt. Fuji today, either.
Cherry blossoms were in full bloom!
With a traditional Japanese house
With mossed wall of Isogo Country Club
In the park of kawazu sakura, which is the right smaller tree with green leaves.
A cherry blossom canopy in a park
A cherry blossom house
Oo oka gawa, Oo oka river, decorated with cherry blossoms
Cherry blossoms tell us Japanese harsh winter is over and spring has just come.
As if they celebrated the new season.
Drinkers find another excuse to celebrate, hahaha.
The temp of cherry blossom season is 20c/68f, good for cycling and hanami, outdoor party under the cherry blossoms.
