The rim strips arrived today, and I got them installed, and swapped in the tires from the Performance Titan (Neuvation) wheels I'd been running. With the wider rims, the tires are fatter! So, now I DESPERATELY want to ride them, get them all de-stressed and re-trued and all, and it's RAINING!!! Not just wet, but a steady rain. 
I also leaned an important lesson - Leave old alloy spoke nipples alone! While I wait for the new rear brake caliper, I checked the tension on the spokes on the CIrcuit. Way low! So, I thought, "I'll just tighten them up". I lubed each spoke/nipple interface, and got to tightening. At least 4 of the nipples were rounded out. I'm thinking either leave it alone - I was able to increase the tension a bit and then retrue - or maybe I should go nuts and just replace ALL the nipples with new brass ones. That's pretty cheap - like $12 for both wheels - but laborious. Still, now that I spent the money for the TM-1 and the nipple driver, maybe I should. It'll make the wheels stronger and they'll last longer!

Ya I prefer brass spoke nipples tbh, unless I want fancy anodized colors or something. The weight penalty is like so minuscule and they're so much tougher.

Romped outside today for 3 hrs at high z2. Thought about doing it on zwift since it's easier to hold steady power, but I'm glad I went out, even though it was overcast with our typical "May gray" morning marine layer. Felt strong!

I did not check per se, but the beta blockers reduce HR and are going to reduce maximum exercise capacity and thus inhibit performance on the bike, and the others are sedatives in some way and should not improve your cycling in any rational way. I know my drugs pretty well.

Are you ever concerned for fire while out there in the depths of dry country? It occurred to me this morning that I am out in tinder dry country, that is prone to fire this time of year. I do ride through recently burned areas. That insight might put me back on a road bike until the rains return.
Some of us did go riding toward a fire and the smoke was much worse than we anticipated. We turned back but I could feel it for days. Dumb.

I use the free version but only to track rides. I cannot comment if routes are only in premium version but would not surprise me.

It looks like I can still save other people's rides as GPX files, so that's nice.
I'm paid up 'til August on RideWithGPS so I'm not sure what the free version of that's like right now.

Mrs GJ got a pair of Noise Cancelling headphones for an airplane trip a while back. Recently, she's taken to wearing them while doing housework, or working on her computer, or even just sitting on the couch playing with her iPhone. They really work. But apparently they think I'm "noise", so when she's wearing them, she can't hear me. I mean, AT ALL. Like, even a raised voice to get her attention from 4 feet away gets silenced.
I've learned not to, for example, stroke her arm gently in passing, lest I startle her. But sometimes even trying to get her attention by waving in her field of view startles her.
Still, it does save me having to listen to her choices in music.

Weird ride today. 17 of us set out for Mulholland Drive, nobody went to the mountains because of wind. For some reason we went the wrong way from the start and when we stopped to get it straightened out, we encountered a group who left our club before 2020. Got to see some old friends and shake a few hands, which felt good.
Finally got going on Mulholland but came to a closure where a crew was working on a landslide and they weren't letting anyone through. I checked last night and there was no mention of the closure on the road closure page. We turned around and dropped down a beat-up canyon with sand and broken pavement and went into Beverly Hills for a coffee. Supercars raced by with open exhaust sounds. The worst driver we dealt with was in tour bus,, though.
Since we were off route, nobody had anything loaded on a Garmin so deciding where to go was a pain. We split up and I wanted to go with one group but missed it when they turned off. No problem, I like the other route and it has some good climbing. Unfortunately the riders on that route were not leaders and it turned into a cluster****.
A woman who is a good climber went to the front and missed a turn and a guy went with her. The rest of us chased until she stopped. Someone told her how to get back to the turn and she hammered away with one guy in tow. Miles of climbing, some of it steep, was ahead. She was gone and I found out later she dropped the guy and got lost again. I got tired of riding with the few riders I was with after a bunch of crazy stuff so I set off alone. Later I was waiting at a red light on top of the ridge and lost girl shows up. Tells me she found the rest of the group and they told her I dropped them. That's something I don't hear very often.
She wanted to wait for the others and when they got there they wanted to go a different way than we had decided on. Great. Just 3 of us went to the end from there and we stayed together even though she needed a little counseling.
Some of these riders need a leader, or at least a route in their Garmin, or they get silly.

I got cut by an actual meat slicer, BITD. Never cut by a disc brake rotor.
