Not the adventure I was looking for
Man plans and God laughs.
My 2 month cyclotour was over by the second day.
I'm home now.. having Distal Radius Surgery tomorrow.
Cycling in Paris is not for the faint of heart.
I did get a chance to visit the fabled Cycles Alex Singer though.
The accident happened on the way back to my airbnb on the other side of town.
Totally my fault.
I’ll be ok, just really disapointed right now.
Typing is difficult using my left hand so this is all I’ll say for now.

Oh, that's got to be so disappointing. I can't even imagine. I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to you.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but it looks like you're on the road to recovery. Glad you've kept your humor about you and I hope you get to do that cycletour soon enough.

I am sorry this happened, but I'm very glad your noggin came through in better shape than your wrist, helmet and crankarm. The wrist will heal, the helmet and crankarm can be replaced, but heads are far too often a different story.

Oh no really sorry to hear this, it sounded like such an epic adventure you had planned.
And now we've all missed out on your glorious pics and tales, so hope you heal up soon and come back stronger, and return to Europe to report on more than its hospitals.

pretty amazing to see the bent crankarm.... lot's of forces involved
so big question: will you be ready for Cino

Heal up, Matthew!
So sorry to hear this, although you did me one better on your trip despite your injury. When I went to visit the Alex Singer shop, Olivier had closed it to go to PBP. All I could do was look through the window and drool.

Sorry Matt, that sucks for sure, live by the sword......
Hang in there, hope it heals well, my last one, left ulna took 2 years to eventually remodel itself, never did fully heal inside as far as we could tell.

Sorry to see that! I have to admit that I'd be leery of biking in Paris myself. It's less the cars but the pedestrians, and the bike lanes on the sidewalks.
Heal quickly and get yourself back to France!

I was going to post something about "Would the Tour riders of the early 1900s let a mere broken arm slow them down? Nooo!" - but I'll just say heal well and hope you're back on the bike in whatever continent soon.

Glad that the most important thing was covered in this thread. You bent one of Jan's crankarms! Musta really been laying down the torque there.

The part they don't talk about is that most of the money went to getting the sound effects just right.
I was going to post something about "Would the Tour riders of the early 1900s let a mere broken arm slow them down? Nooo!" - but I'll just say heal well and hope you're back on the bike in whatever continent soon.

It felt weird to "like" the post about your crash. I did not like to hear that!
You'll come back stronger, but man that sucks having your vacay ruined.
Heal well and fast brother!
