Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My thought exactly. You can get at least 2 people in that trunk, probably three small ones.

My first car was a 1964 Galaxie which looked like this except for the rear wheel skirts. It was $850 at a dealer and I financed $500 of it for a year. I saved the other $300+ by washing dishes in a hospital part time after school. I put 30K miles on it in less than a year.

Later, I had 3 1965 Cadillacs, a convertible, a Coupe de Ville, and a Fleetwood. The convertible is the only one I drove extensively. I don't know the MPG but I know when I put gas in it, it was gone very quickly. Annoying.

The fix was to remove the cylinder heads and grind the pistons smooth, replace the PROM chip to change the timing curve, and install a bigger EGR valve. PITA, for about 5 hours pay, iirc.
Interesting! Mine was an 8 cylinder (purchased in Canada). Ran like a champ for almost 14 years.

One never needs to mow more than once a week, regardless of the rain amount. #MowingMath

I bought my Fleetwood when the first gas crisis was in full bloom. Remember even and odd days, lines of cars at the pumps? Such fun!

I drove it as little as possible.

By dumb luck I never had to wait in a long line for gas. I had a pick up truck that got good mileage and I didn't have a long commute so I would see an uncrowded station and fill up. Had that truck for 19 years so all through the embargo and odd/even and all that stupidity. I had a lot of other cars during the years I had the truck.

I was working at a gas station in 1976 when another round of stations running out of gas and odd/even happened. We weren't supposed to fill our own cars after hours but sometimes we did. I was putting gas in my truck and some guy saw me and said I had to sell him gas and he was going to report me, etc. Nope.

We also had customers come in and buy services, shocks, tires, and ask if we would fill it up while we were working on it. Sure.

Crazy times.

Another too-small bike in the area. Only $400 for 50cm Colnago. Already has the Technomic on there so technically I could make it work
