I'm here . . . just inundated with work.
C Heath - Congratulations! Well-deserved! You worked hard. Keep going, and going, and going.
Low Cell - you and C heath look like cyclists . . . the guys we see in races and people say 'look at those calves'
Great job!
I'm still going. I've been splitting my strength workouts at the gym so I do either arms or legs (abs and back) 6 days a week. It's amazing how much strength I've gained in the past 4 weeks. I think it's because when I used to do strength MWF, I would usually miss a day, sometimes 2, so I was really just maintaining. Now I'm building. Getting stronger every week. And, best of all, I can finally do guy push-ups.
I bike most days -- for errands, to ride to the courts, etc. so I'm getting some cycling in. At the gym I do the elliptical machine for an hour right before the strength training.
Another tennis tournament is coming up beginning tomorrow.

C Heath - nice picture. Congratulations. You're on your way to your new weight loss goal.
My scale is continuing to go down little by little. It was stalled for a bit, now it's going down about a pound a week.

I'm getting jealous of all of you. I haven't lost any weight for a while and probably won't. It just keeps fluctuating back and forth. I think I'm going to give up for a bit and start attempting weight loss again around December. It's just too hard to try to lose weight and keep my energy level up enough for racing.
I've set a new goal though. I want to see 160 pounds by March.

its hard for me as well now. I can fluctuate 4 whole pounds from day to day. That really sucks. Im gonna keep going. Leaving for the beach Saturday. A solid week of NO fitday. Gonna take a notebook though to keep it tracked.
On a good note, I am pumped up because I am TAKING MY BIKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wont have to mash the hills there!

Welp. I gained 3 pounds at the beach, I think it was a good week. I rode just under 100 miles but I ate like a banshee lol.
The last night, I ate at outback and killed 3/4 of an order of cheese fries. Doh!
Washed them down with some alice springs chicken.
I think that eating good all day and riding every day but 1 and then rating bad at night made it better. I wanted to junk out all day but I didnt.
On a sucess note, I purchased all new clothing at the beach, the highlight was in the dressing room at old navy where just for the fun of it, I tried on a MEDIUM golf shirt, yes MEDIUM as well as a size 33 waist cargo shorts. I purchased them both. Felt great! Out with the XL T-shirts and 36 and 38 waist shorts.
Where yall at?!

I did pretty much the same thing as you this past weekend. I took a mini-vacation and went to the MTBR Slatyfork Shuffle mountain bike gathering. This was my third year there and I had a blast. I decided before I went that I wasn't going to worry about anything that I ate. If it looked or sounded good it was going in my stomach.
Wednesday evening - Steaks, corn, brocolli
Wednesday night - beer, beer, marshmallows, s'mores, etc
Thursday morning - pancakes, eggs, bacon
Thursday evening - trout, corn, brocolli
Thursday night - beer, beer, beer, marshmallows, s'mores, etc
Friday morning - pancakes, eggs
Friday evening - spaghetti, beer
Friday night - beer, beer, beer, beer, marshmallows, s'mores, etc
Saturday morning - pancakes
Saturday evening - Wings, wings, wings and a few more wings, beer, beer
Saturday night - beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, marshmallows, beer, beer
Sunday morning - Advil, tylenol, asparin, etc, etc........
All in all, had a great time. Gained about three or four pounds but I'll get rid of it this week so I'm not too concerned about it.

Neither do I. I typically drink a beer or two a month. This gathering is the exception every year.

Woo!!! im thrilled to see other people who started at weights around the same as me doing cycling for training.
I started out at over 280lbs (my scales wouldnt weigh me) im now around 268lbs, I've covered 82miles so far over the last 3 weeks of doing this fitness thing, though im feeling really guilty about not actually cycling for 2 of those weeks (just couldnt be arsed to be honest), this is the 4th week im currently on. Planning on cycling every day if I can (should get another 80+ miles out of it), its no longer a novelty gimmick for me, its a case of going "no.. must ride!... yes its crud outside, but no... I must ride!".
As for diet wise, I find I like healthy food anyway (I say healthy to be truely healthy you need a 4/3/3 breakdown but you'll get what I mean) I eat salads, fish, chicken. Weekends as its summer I find myself having 2 BBQ's but then I wont eat anything for lunch.
I calculated my BMR (basal metabolic rate) once and found it around the 2000 mark, tried counting calories but to be honest it just didnt work, it got boring and tedious fast, and trying a 4/3/3 split is blimmin hard when you find that most of the food you have has trace protein, and is high in fats or carbs! lol.
Now... if im hungry, I drink water... lots of it... until the hunger pang/urge is gone. Then I eat my usual 3 meals a day.
Biggest thing I attribute to my weight loss over the last few weeks, CUTTING OUT FULL FAT COKE. I was amazed to find that 1 bottle of coca cola = 550 calories (thats a quarter of my daily BMR), I now drink water, or diet coke if I need a fizzy hit. (5 calories is much nicer on the ol' waistline).
Not lost any waist inches yet but im hopeful Intend to go to Alton Towers in September, last year I suffered humiliation as I was unable to ride the machines (the bars wouldnt close on my chest), this year... I want to go and have fun!
Hope you dont mind me joining in the thread later in the year but yeah im trying too!
So happy im not the only one weighing over 200 pounds on this forum though, on another forum I am on it seems im the only overweight (no lets not beat about the bush... obese) guy there!

My First Race!!!!!!!!
Wow - Great Job C! I have been AWFK for a while. I got down to 178, but float between 180-183 lately. I was on a three-week taper (we'll call it that), right before my first race, on Saturday. It was a team duathlon. https://www.metlifeduathlon.com (My team was "Bald and Balder") My team came in 14th overall, out of 39, and 7th in the mens division. I did 11 miles in 32:51 (20 mph :-)) 3 minutes FASTER than I thought I would do. That has motivated me to get my a*# back on the bike and eat right again. No need to diet, and the weight will come down to 170 over time. I am in no hurry. My body looks better than it did, and I am happy with that. Thanks to all of you who helped me out.

Throw the stick!!!!
Well I seem to be back on track. I had to take a couple of days off the bike to have some medical tests run but I'm back in business. I weighed myself this morning and I am back down to 170 pounds. Much better!
Anyway, yesterday I went out and did some hill repeats. I extended the ride afterwards and did a few more climbs. I ended up doing 46 miles and 4,200 feet of climbing. I also got a new high wattage, I hit 1,132 watts during a sprint. It showed the high wattage on my powertap but I guess I didn't hold it long enough for it to register once I downloaded it to my computer.
Here is a pretty picture of the ride data.

Usually, when you get fat again, you run like hell from a thread like this.
Im still 175 on the nose and holding. Just thought Id add that since this thread (although a great one) died.

I have been fluctuating, but have started burning @ 1200 calories per workout, so that might help level it out...
