Upon further thought, this might fall under the hostile workplace regulations. Do some research to have your ducks in a row, then bring it up to your boss. The sooner, the better.
The only hostile-workplace regulations I know about say that you can't be hostile to someone on account of their race/sex/religion/national origin.

Also you could buy one of those bike lockers like the Bike Pod:

Also, I don't know what kind of building you have but I worked at a small building like that and made friends with Janitor and he let me keep my bike in his cleaning closet. So just be on the lookout for nooks and crannies like that. Good Luck.
I like this. You might wan to suggest tactfully to your Office Manager that anything the company does to encourage and facilitate bicycle commuting will look Very Good for company PR. It puts a nice "feel-good" gloss in pamphlets about what a great thing it is to work at This Special Place.

Oh man, I don't think I've seen a Porcupine reference on this site before, that's awesome. Let me guess how this story goes next....the copier is broken, right?

No change as of yet, but we were closed over the weekend. Thanks for all the suggestions and support. I will try to come up with a game plan over the next few days and present it to everyone here.

You S-I-L's behavior is ridiculous. Walls getting dirty is a lame excuse (and easily avoided in practice). People "tripping" is also beyond idiotic (ever heard of chairs? dangerous little buggers should be banned from offices!). Good luck!

Yes. They walk by the open office that I was using, but no work or meetings take place there.

there are a number of things you could do to continue keeping your bike inside, but at this point it probably wouldn't hurt to tidy up your resume, just in case. what i've used successfully in the workplace are:

1. you could just ignore her or put her off when the topic arises.

2. you could appease her bogus concerns.

both of these work well with people who avoid confrontation or have hidden agendas.

I've heard both. But you've certainly outed yourself as a connoisseur of bad porn....
