Stolen Bike Alert: Orbea Diva
So... somebody came into the shop I work in and stole a bike right off the shelves.
Crazy, I know.
I wasn't working, so I don't know the exact story.
But, it was a light blue Orbea Diva. The complete build was between $4000 and $5000.
Full Campy Chrous grouppo, 47cm.
If any of you see anything fishy on Craigslist or Ebay, PLEASE PM me.
Funny thing is, this bike had no pedals, no bar tape, and no cables. All the other shops in the area know to be looking for it.
Will look kinda like this:
Again, if you see anything on CL in your area, let me know.
Thanks guys.

while ryand is usually online, checking pm's and not doing his real job, i'd suggest calling the shop instead of or in addition to giving him a head's up if you see anything.
the shop is the bike rack and the number is 202 387 BIKE. ask for dave, chuck, or wayne.

i ALWAYS check my PMs though.
because even if I'm doing work... my email account is always open.
But calling the shop is another good way to get the wheel turning towards recovery.

I'm sure all the local pawn shops have been notified with the serial number, right? One pawn shop down here says if an expensive bike comes in the door, he'll take it around back to "inspect" it, run the serial number, then if necessary, call the cops. He said he then fiddles around, leaving the pawner standing there. Most of the time, the guy gets so nervous he just runs off. If he doesn't, he gets busted.
They don't take cheap bikes here.

I've posted a link to this thread over at Team Estrogen, too.

Well, I posted it in SSFG because thats where I do most of my reading and posting, and because there are a lot of bikes that get recovered in this forum. A lot of people in this forum are on CL a lot.
Or yeah... I was calling us all thieves.

That could be because more people tend to lock up SSFG bikes rather than road bikes in areas where bikes are stolen... but that is irrelevant.
BTW- I wasn't serious- it was more a jab at that fact that an Orbea Diva has nothing to do with SSFG

Walk offs happen. Last year someone walked off with a Carbon Specialized from the shop I worked at at the time. I posted up here with $400 reward but the thread was moved. Oh well. Good luck.

not to be mean, but how does that happen. A 4000 dollar bike walks out the door. I guess that theives are getting incredibly sneaky. Was it incredibly busy at the time? if so maybe you should have someone stand at the door to make sure crap like that doesn't happen. good luck in your attempt to find this beauty, i live in connecticut so i can't be of much help.
