Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Try this.

Also do this:

1. Keep an eye on Craigslist and the local used bike shops.
2. Take out an ad in the local paper that says "WE BUY USED BIKES!"
3. Blow torch anyone who turns up with your bike and retain him in your basement as your gimp.
4. Recover your bike.
5. Enjoy.

Sorry for your loss, but you never know:

Met a dude at the dentist riding a brand spanking new Time something or other. He said someone broke into his garage and stole his custom Serotta. He filed police report. (Formality for insurance purposes) Insurance paid out. He bought the Time.

BUT: One or two weeks later, police recovered Serotta.
Insurance company was somehow informed and demanded refund of pay out.
Now he has two bikes, can't return Time or sell for what he paid, owes insurance company a few grand....bittersweet.

Nah, my roommates are all more than 100% trustworthy. I'd be suspicious of one of their friends....we did find **** in my roommate's driver seat...

at any rate, I am not considered a dependent on my parent's policy...I don't drive for the same reason, insurance sucks...

Great idea about the ad, but it's probably too late for something that ingenious. I have been scanning bike racks on campus and around town, peeking in garages, etc, seen nothing.

It's gone, I've sorta conceded that fact. I did buy myself a sweet track frame as a consolation/x-mas prize...still wouldn't ride it 100mi.
