Any one have a problem with their P3 picking up debris (pebbles/twigs/etc) with the rear wheel and having it scrape thru the small gap between the frame & wheel before ejecting it. I have the screw set in its furthest position to allow small objects to fit thru but Im still scraping the clear coat back there with small rocks, etc... that get stuck. Maybe my tires are just too 'sticky'.

I have never had a problem with that.

Very, very rarely with my P2 SL which has equally small clearance. Typically only if I ride somewhere that has loose gravel on the road...and even then it doesn't happen that often. I ride Conti GP4000's if that helps.

You might think about your tires.....sticky tires will do this....it might not be a problem with your bike at all....

Check with your local bike shop and see if they have longer dropout bolts so you can move the wheel back a little more.
It doesn't take a lot of adjustment to give you enough clearance. An extra mm should do the trick, and it won't have a noticeable effect on aerodynamics.

or...he spends some money on some new tires that dont pick up every little pebble on the road. That way he isnt doing something like putting the wheel at the very back of the dropouts(potential for extra frame fatigue), and negating the effects of the cutout.

Ya, having the huge gap between the seatpost, and the rear wheel. Would most likley cause a disturbance in the laminar flow of air. Something the curved seatpost combined with aero wheels is desinged to prevent.

I've had a cervelo p3 carbon, and a Felt DA. I noticed the same problem, and i put 2 pieces of electrical tape on the seat tube cut out.

theres no way of stopping pebbles catching your wheels, you can only limit the damage by putting tape on the frame. It works fine, make sure the frame is clean when you put the tape on, or it won't stay on.

I am not THAT experienced with it. I have only had my P3 for 4 years now. I have almost no damage on my cut out. I have done a bunch of races that went for a couple KMs on dirt roads because of construction. Yet like I said, no damage. I dont know what your guys deals are. My mom rides a P3 too, no problems. Friends of mine have riden P3s since they first came out, again, no damage.

Putting on the tape sounds a good idea. Anyone have any suggestion of how to properly align the wheels on Cervelo. Is there a gadget to fix the gap and alignment or do you just do it through plain sight?
