I think Sastre, Basso, Di Luca and Menchov are all within a hairs width of each other in terms of ability, popo just popped about 1/3 of the way up.

Sastre wins by 24 seconds on Menchov who picked up a couple of seconds on DiLuca and Basso.

Levi getting pulled by Lance in at 2'51"

Popo in at 3'23"

Sastre doesn't have the CSC stacked roster yet he still destroyed everyone today. He's a true champion in my book...

Anyone else think Lance, in his mind, wants to drop out and save it for the TdF? What's the point? "Levy" looked like crap today.

Levi is over with. It's sad, but at least I'm not a huge Levi fan.

It looks like Sastre has left his calling card; attacking solo on a mountaintop finish to gain a bunch of time.

He was also 3' down so they let him go and then pulled back a minute on him. Still a good attempt.

It's not like lance is riding for levi anyway. I wonder what deal he really made with astana.

It's been a good day for Mechov and Di Luca. It's looking like a two-man race.

Sure looked like Lance was pulling "Levy" to me. There's no point for Lance IMO unless he wants to go for a stage win and dedicate it to cancer. Up until today, I thought it was pretty clear Levi was the leader for the Giro.

"Churvelo?"

The race sorted out today.

FWIW (not all that much) methinks LA cuts loose from Levi and goes for a stage win. He looks like he's getting some form and since he's not a GC contender might get some freedom.

No.
He is relearning what it takes to survive a 3-week race.
And he's getting a solid base that would never happen in training.
He's not riding 100% on any stage, so he'll come out quite fresh compared to those battling for GC..

It's just sad watching him having to wait for "Levy". I feel for the dude. I mean, he only did win the TdF 7 times consecutively and now he's Levi's waterboy...

I'd be pissed...

I really doubt that Armstrong cares at all. No one is going to beat 7 TdF wins for a very, very long time, and I would think that he knows his accomplishments will speak for themselves for generations to come. To say that would suggest that Armstrong is so self-serving, arrogant, narcissitic and full of himself that he would not be able to fully participate as a component of the team.

Did you even watch the first two weeks of this race? Lance was getting dropped on every climb. Yeah, LL cracked. It's very sad, but he clearly deserved leadership of the team.

That's why I'd be pissed. If you read my previous comments, to me, it was clear Levi was the leader up until now. But the point is that it's questionable now, to me at least, whether he deserved that leadership role in the first place. 4th place, or 6th as it currently stands for Levi, doesn't mean much.
