after racing motocross for ~15 years, I'd say cycling is atleast as dangerous.. crashing on dirt with full pads isnt that bad... It would actually be a great cross training.. its a very aerobic activity and really works your whole body...

I'm sure JV was elated about hearing that. He should try cross country skiing like Phinney used to do.

You know what's great cross training? Not getting hurt. Not getting hurt, and then actually training. I'm sure someone has pointed that out to him, but it doesn't seem to have stuck...

I do remember reading Tommy D's agent once saying he (the agent) once
told Jim Ochowitz that Tommy D was going to be the next Armstrong; and
he seemed upset when Ochowitz smirked disapprovingly at his prediction.

Tom D... is a guy with all the talent and potential you could ask for, but even though I keep hoping he'll finally get it together and be the rider many thought he could be....I now doubt that will ever happen.

What I find amazing is that this guy is still being paid. He spent way more time on IR than on his bike you'd think they would want to spend that money on arider who can contribute.

I seem to remember Slipstream cautiously taking him at the end of last season, probably after talking him down in salary. I'm sure they did that this year again.

I have to say that I remember a time when I thought Armstrong would never amount to much.

I was reading the thread in the road bike section from the guy who bought a Merckx frame. One of the posters was describing the characteristics of a Merckx frame and relating it to how Ed rode. What would the ride characteristics of a Danielson be if he made a bike?

Advertised as sub-15 lbs., but actually 17+ lbs. as delivered. Brittle frame prone to fatigue failures at joints. Next year's model promised to be vastly improved.

something like the early 100% titanium frames. supposedly very brittle and prone to shimmy at high speeds.

Tommy D is in for the Giro. Will he crash rolling off the TT start ramp? Get taken out by a dog? Maybe a panini goes down the wrong way?

All jokes aside I'd like to see him do something.

I'm leaning toward a Guitar Hero injury or missing the time cut during the team time trial.

He'll do something...something like getting hurt/sick/dropped.....

BTW I've become the Tommy D of amateur bike racing. Seems like just before any event I remotely care about this season I've either been sick or injured. Supposed to do the weekly crit series tonight, me and teammate were going to work over the field...I'm sick. FARRRRRRRK!

A solid 88th on the GC with 3 stages to go. He is only 2 seconds behind Renaud Dion for 87th and I believe Tom is stronger at the TT.

"For now I have to take the Giro day by day," Danielson told Cyclingnews on Piazza del Duomo at the start of stage nine. "My goal is to finish it after giving everything for the team time trial [where his team Garmin-Slipstream finished in second place behind Team Columbia-Highroad, ed.]. Now we race for Tyler Farrar to win a stage. My other goal is to go back to my race weight, I'm not at 100% yet."
At almost 2 1/2 hours back that's the understatement of the year.

Wow he is still tying to recover from the TTT, that must of been a really hard 13 miles......

Dude is a tool, I was watching a Cycle To video the other day and he kept winking at the camera for some reason.
