Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think my local shop has the Mars 3.0 on hand, so I'll be taking a close look at that when I head down again.
That warning sticker is to make people aware that they'll go blind if they look directly at the light.

I had that light before it was stolen by my brother. It works great and can be mounted vertical or horizontally. Has several flashing modes, very brilliant. Only drawback is a bit tall and when a seat bag is added, they may be fighting each other.

Planet Bike Super Flash

It is bright and you will be seen.

If it slows you down, you're doing it wrong.

Which part? The 'self appointed' bit or the 'transcended' self awareness part?

You might be completely correct, but with all the white noise the pair of you make it is forgivable for someone to confuse the identities.

I stopped by the local shop tonight to check out my options there. After browsing aimlessly, I asked the manager for his opinion. He also recommended the Super Flash. He also recommended just clipping it to your back left jersey pocket for higher and wider visibility. So no areo drag and no having to stuff it between my cheeks.

For the record, I'm not actually worried about areo drag, just the aesthetics of the bike as a whole. I'm weird like that.

I use this. I don't usually turn it on in the daytime though.

One more vote for pb super flash. small, light, very bright and easy to engage. Luckily, my new bike has some white in it so it matches.

Yeah, the primary use for this light is dusk/dawn type riding. I hope to never be caught out at night and in the daytime, I would hope a brightly colored jersey would be seen before a flashing light.
