Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ambo - I will offer my 2 cents. I have 2 newer Raleigh Road bikes. What are you going to use the bike for ? group rides, race, general purpose ? What is your weight ? Both bikes appear to have the same frame, but the Prestige has higher end race components. It has the Protocol wheelset (nice, light, but probably limited to under 200 lbs rider), upgraded Ritchey Pro fork, new Ultegra 10 speed, and higher end stem, bars, seat, and seatpost. Those items are definitely worth the $ 450 more. I was trying to buy Protocol wheels on ebay for $ 425 over the winter and was outbid. The Competition appears to be a little more heavy and durable. I would put the Prestige at about 16.5 lbs w/o pedals and the Competition at about 18 lbs. I think the cassette sizes are inverted on the website, 11-23 for the Competition and 12-25 for the Prestige because the Competition has the Compact Crank. If you are a recreational rider, no race or fast group rides, I would go with the Competition, but if you appreciate better and newer components and like to race or do fast group rides, the Prestige looks like a lot of value for the money. That $ 1650 seems too good to be true.

I vote for the Prestige; it is just a great looking frame and you seem to be getting quite a good deal on it.
